Ph.D. Programs & Seat Availability

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Admission

• Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or a professional qualification equivalent to a Master’s degree as recognised by the relevant statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade (B on the UGC 7-point scale).

• A 5% relaxation (i.e., 50%) in marks is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled candidates and those who obtained their Master’s degree before September 19, 1991, as per UGC norms.

• Candidates with an M.Phil. degree (or an equivalent from a foreign institution recognised by a proper accreditation body) are also eligible.

Desirable Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate an excellent academic or professional track record in their chosen area of study. For part-time Ph.D., the applicant must:

1. Provide proof to the Doctoral Research Committee (DRC) that their current professional responsibilities allow sufficient time for research.

2. Ensure that adequate research facilities are available at their workplace, if required.

Ph.D. Selection Process – 2025

The selection will involve a two-stage process:

1. Online Entrance Test

   • Minimum qualifying marks: 50%

2. Presentation to the Doctoral Research Committee (DRC)

   • Shortlisted candidates will be required to present a preliminary research proposal, clearly outlining the research problem and a literature review to demonstrate originality and research potential.

Ph.D. Application Process

• Interested candidates must apply online through GMU’s official admission portal.

• Before submitting the application, candidates should complete the payment process. The transaction ID must be entered in the application form.

• A hard copy of the completed application form, payment receipt, and supporting documents must be sent via post to the university.
