SNAP 2019 SYLLABUS AND EXAMINATION PATTERN

SNAP or Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is the entrance examination for admission in their preferred college in Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune.

SNAP follows a similar pattern as CAT; however, they are not precisely the same. The examination pattern and syllabus for SNAP are slightly different than that of CAT.

To ace the SNAP 2019 examination, candidates have to be well prepared. To begin their process of preparation, one of the first things that candidates must be acquainted with is the syllabus and examination pattern of SNAP 2019.

In this article, we will help acquaint aspiring candidates with the syllabus and examination pattern of SNAP 2019.

SYLLABUS OF SNAP 2019

The curriculum for SNAP 2019 has four main categories.

  • General English: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) and Verbal Reasoning.
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning
  • Data Sufficiency, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

The detailed syllabus for each of these individual categories is as follows.

VERBAL ABILITY, READING COMPREHENSION AND VERBAL REASONING

  • Candidates are required to answer ten questions which follow two Reading Comprehension passages.
  • The RC passages on topics such as facts, opinions, literature, and the like, are provided.
  • The questions for the RC section of SNAP are never tough to answer.
  • The ten questions required to be answered by the candidates are on the RC passages.
 

VERBAL ABILITY

  • Synonyms, Antonyms, Fill in the Blanks
  • Idioms, Phrases, Vocabulary usage
  • Jumbled Paragraphs
  • Correction of Errors in sentences,
  • Core Grammar usage (Conditionals, Active Passive, and Indirect Narration etc.)
 

VERBAL REASONING

SNAP 2019 – EXAMINATION PATTERN

In 2017 the mode of SNAP Examination was changed to online from pen and paper mode. In 2018 the examination pattern of SNAP had altered slightly with the introduction of a new type of questions. The test duration is still for two hours.

Some of the significant changes introduced in SNAP exam pattern 2019 are:

  1. The number of questions now reduced to 115 from 130
  2. The number of unique problems in QADI section reduced to 5 from 20
  3. The scoring pattern of usual questions has changed;
  4.  +1 mark for every right answer in Quant and section, and +1.5 marks for every correct answer in English and Reasoning section.

Points to remember for SNAP 2019

  • The examination is a computer-based test conducted in the online mode.
  • The examination constitutes of 110 questions which add up to a total score of 150 marks.
  • The total duration of the examination is 120 minutes (2 hours).
  • The usual questions in the examination are in the MCQ format. Each question offers four alternative options. Candidates are required to choose any one option which they think is correct out of the four alternatives.
  • Negative marking constitutes 25% of the total marks allotted for that question.
  • The special questions in the Quantitative Ability segment will have a blank which acts as a space for the answer. Candidates are required to answer these questions using the virtual keyboard, available on the computer  screen.

A critical note that, SNAP does not consider the sectional cut-offs. Instead, they release an overall cut off.

It allows candidates to have the edge over other candidates if they focus on their stronger points and aim to score high using their strengths.
