RRB NTPC Recruitment 2019

Set up by the Ministry of Railways, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) was established in 1985. In the present day, there are nearly twenty-one boards in different parts of India. The main responsibility of the Railway Recruitment Board is to carry out recruitment drives for eligible individuals for various administrative services in the Indian Railways.

One of the exams conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board is that of Non Technical Popular Categories, commonly known as NTPC.

RRB NTPC 2019 exam, which was scheduled to be conducted in the months of June to September 2019, was recently postponed and will be tentatively held in the months of October to November. However, any official dates for the exam were not announced in the postponement notification, and candidates were simply advised to keep a regular check on the website of RRB.

With such an uncertainty in the dates of examination, the anxiety of candidates reached a new high when notification by RRB went viral, stating that the number of vacancies for RRB NTPC had been reduced. Not only did it create pandemonium on social media, but also disheartened thousands of candidates.

The notification, which was making rounds on social media stated that the number of vacancies for RRB NTPC had been reduced to a mere 10,648. This came as a great shock because a huge number of vacancies were originally announced, that is a total of 35, 208.

Even though there is such a stir and commotion relating to this notification, it is clear upon simply giving it a glance, that it is fake. It should be noted by candidates that the number of vacancies, as announced by RRB in the month of May, will remain intact and no changes have been made.

The fake notification claims that the deduction in the number of vacancies was made to “decrease the burden of the Indian Railways.” It also talked about the fact the recruitments will take place through the IRCTC to encourage privatisation. Candidates easily fell prey to this fake news because of the long postponement of the exam, the reason for which they thought was a reduction in the vacancies.

However, candidates are advised to refrain from believing the faulty claims made by such fake notifications. Any notification which is not released by the Railway Recruitment Board on its official website or in any of the Railway zones should be ignored.

Thus, as of now, the total number of vacancies for RRB NTPC 2019 stands at 35, 208. The category wise breakdown for the number of vacancies can also be stated as follows –

  • Unreserved Category : 15,111
  • Scheduled Castes : 5,119
  • Scheduled Tribes : 2,768
  • Other Backward Classes : 8,697
  • Economically Weaker Sections : 3,508
