NIBM (National Institute of Bank Management) is an Institute for Research and Consultancy in Banking and Financial Services. The institute is located in Pune. This is an autonomous institute and was established in the year 1969. The parent institution for NIBM is Reserve Bank of India. The Institute is governed by a board, and its chairman is the Governor of Reserve Bank of India.

The faculty of the institute consists of academicians from the wide range of disciplines like Economics, Commerce, Finance, Computer science, Business Management, Agriculture, and Sociology etc. the faculties specialize in different functional areas and are structured into 6 area groups. The 6 area groups are Human Resource Management, Finance, IT, Money, International Banking and Finance, Rural Finance and Development Research, Strategic Planning, Marketing, and Control.

Course Offered by the Institute:

PGDM in Banking and Financial Services: (Main Course)

The course offered by NIBM is PGDM (Post-Graduate Diploma in Management) in Banking and Financial Services. It is the first course in India to offer a two-year specialization in the banking and financial sector approved by AICTE. Based on the industry demand, the course is offered with modules on IFRS, NPA management, and Business Analytics.

This provides a constant industry interface and brings better practical direction and problem-solving skills in significant areas like Treasury, Credit, IB, and Risk Management. The final year projects are designed in terms of making the students for challenging jobs in the Banking and Financial Services. There is 100% placements ever since the commencement in 2003.

The institute accepts the scores of CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA exams for the PGDM in Banking and Financial services course. The fees for the course is Rs. 12 Lakhs

Fellowship programmes:

The doctoral programme was one of the major conducts of NIBM, initiated almost right away after its commencement, with the intention of increasing the manpower base for research studies in banking areas. It also fulfilled the educational responsibility of the institute. By doing so, the institute has shaped a pool of capable and well-trained researchers as a source for potential faculty of the institute.

Admission process:

The candidates who are seeking admission to the PGDM in banking and financial services either have to appear for the CAT/XAT/ATMA/CMAT exams.  The candidates will be short-listed on the basis of the test score of CAT/XAT/CMAT/ATMA exams. The candidates who are eligible will be called for Writing Ability Test and Interview.

The candidates who are short-listed have to appear for another written test on the later stage. IIMs or any other institution will have no interference either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

In the written ability test the candidate’s knowledge, consistency and clarity and time management will be tested. It is mainly used to test the candidate’s richness of the content and the knowledge of the sector.

In personal interview round the candidate’s response, interpersonal skills, confidence, and clarity will be tested.

The candidates who are short-listed for WAT and PI will have to bring the following documents for verification. The venue and date for WAT and PI will be updated on the official website – http://www.nibmindia.org/

  • Original and a self-attested Xerox copy of 10/12th standard or graduation certificate.
  • One passport size photo
  • Candidates appearing for the final year bachelors degree and those completed degree requirements and waiting for the results have to produce the letterhead from the principal/head of department/director of university stating that the candidate is currently in the final year and
  • Should have obtained at least 50% marks on the latest available grades.
