The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) recently put up the required percentage of marks for the various educational boards across the country for admission in IITs. Candidates who have either scored top 20 percentile marks or 75% marks in their Class 12 will be eligible to seek admission in the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
For reserved category candidates, the candidates must have scored 65% in order to secure admission. JoSAA has released the cut off marks for admission in various IITs for various boards in different categories. The top 20 percentile marks cut-off has increased from last year in most of the boards this year. Till now, 34 boards have submitted their top 20 percentile marks to JoSAA and it will be updated as and when more information is received by the authority.

The cut-off marks have been calculated based on the marks attained by students in five subjects namely: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Any Language and one subject other than the other four subjects mentioned. The cut-off list is prepared keeping in mind the aggregate as 500. If any candidate has appeared for the Class 12 examination in 2016 and took the examination in 2017 to improve marks of some subjects, then the cut off marks in the year 2016 will be taken into account for admission.
23 IITs across the country offer over 10,000 engineering seats across the country. Along with the cut off marks in Class 12 for IITs, JoSAA has released cut off marks for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.
