Georgetown McDonough MBA degree in UAE
Georgetown McDonough School of Business has introduced the first executive MBA programme in the UAE, aiming to elevate business leadership in the MENASA region. The programme, spanning 20 months, offers a unique curriculum and global networking opportunities, contributing to the UAE’s vision for economic advancement.

Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business has unveiled an exciting development in the field of executive education: the introduction of its new Executive Master of Business Administration (Executive MBA) programme in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This milestone was marked in the presence of H.E. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and it signifies the first-ever Executive MBA programme to be launched in the UAE.

This programme, known as the Executive MBA Dubai, stands as the sole offering of its kind in the region from a top-tier U.S. business school. Its primary aim is to elevate experiential learning to new heights, serving as a pivotal platform for senior decision-makers and executives. Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their international and regional business acumen, gaining a deeper understanding of effective leadership within both public and private organisations across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA) region and beyond.

Building upon the successful legacy of Georgetown’s esteemed Executive MBA programme, which holds a prominent ranking according to the Financial Times, the Executive MBA Dubai programme boasts a comprehensive curriculum divided into four key domains: core foundations, regional expertise, future focus, and immersive experiences. Spanning a duration of 20 months, this programme covers essential topics essential for senior administrators, encompassing business and global affairs, public-private partnerships, business analytics, sustainability, the future of work, and FinTech. Graduates will join Georgetown University’s global network of over 200,000 alumni.

The Executive MBA Dubai program’s administrative office will be established within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) at the DIFC Academy. The DIFC Academy collaborates with renowned institutions worldwide to offer a diverse range of academic and professional education programmes that nurture talent development within DIFC and Dubai. In 2022, the Academy successfully facilitated programmes for 3,600 learners and graduates.

Students enrolled in the Executive MBA Dubai programme will study at the DIFC Academy and engage in three week-long residencies, including two held at Georgetown’s campus in Washington, D.C. Additionally, participants will gain access to invaluable networking opportunities with senior leaders, lifelong learning resources, career coaching, mentoring programmes, and alumni engagement.

Distinguished from a conventional MBA programme, which typically prepares students for day-to-day business operations management, the Executive MBA is tailored for existing leaders seeking a comprehensive understanding of various organisational aspects from a c-suite perspective. As a relatively new degree option in the region, the Executive MBA Dubai contributes significantly to the realisation of the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision. Graduates of this programme will either advance their existing careers or pivot to new ones, ultimately contributing to the establishment of a knowledge-based economy and further enhancing the UAE’s position as an influential economic hub.

H.E. Essa Kazim, the Governor of DIFC, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University, and its contribution to nurturing international talent in the region. He emphasised the importance of providing access to top-notch education to foster future leaders’ growth.

Robert Groves, the Provost of Georgetown University, highlighted the university’s legacy of educating world leaders since its founding in 1789. He emphasised the university’s commitment to rigorous academic excellence and values, preparing graduates to address complex global challenges and drive positive change.

Paul Almeida, the Dean and William R. Berkley Chair at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, acknowledged the tremendous economic growth and innovation in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. He underscored the synergy between Dubai’s opportunities for aspiring and established business leaders and Georgetown University’s global reputation, emphasising the profound impact this programme will have on students and the region’s prosperity.

The inaugural edition of the Georgetown McDonough University School of Business Executive MBA programme in Dubai commenced in September 2023. Successful participants will receive an MBA degree from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Georgetown University boasts an impressive alumni roster, including Nobel Prize Laureates, Rhodes Scholars, Marshall Scholars, Truman Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, U.S. Presidents, U.S. Supreme Court Justices, international royalty, and foreign heads of state. The university offers degree programs in 48 disciplines, with a diverse student body representing over 135 countries.

Located at the crossroads of business, policy, and international relations in the U.S. capital, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business leverages its unique access to business, government, policymakers, nonprofits, and the diplomatic community.
