However, Neha Kant, the Founder and Director of Clovia, has successfully navigated this challenge. Clovia revolutionised the lingerie market by offering a comfortable and convenient shopping experience by delivering lingerie directly to customers. Despite the taboo surrounding lingerie, Neha was able to build a thriving business.

This article highlights the insights of Neha Kant, an alumnus of FORE School of Management, on how her education in management played a role in her achieving her entrepreneurial goals.

  1. Describe your career journey and your current role.

I graduated from the FORE School of Management in 2004 and started working as an Account Executive with FCB Ulka. I went on to join Bag It Today (India Today Group), where I headed Sales and Marketing, and later joined bestylish.com as a Digital Marketing Head. In 2014 I decided to start my own venture with all the experience I had gained and founded Clovia Lingerie.

As part of my growing up in the small town of Haridwar, I noticed a huge gap in the women’s underwear space, with very few styles, fits and sizes available in the market. Women were not only unaware of their right size & fit, but they were also made to wear incorrect ones because of limited availability.

Clovia Lingerie today is one of the fastest-growing Indian lingerie brands. We have expanded our business from lingerie, sleepwear, loungewear, activewear, and shapewear to women’s personal care, beauty, and hygiene products. We are on route to becoming a global name in this sector.

  1. What are some of your key achievements in your illustrious career journey?

Today, Clovia has been able to fit ~4 Mn women with the mission to fit 50 Mn women within the next 3 years. Today, Clovia ships 1 item every 2.5 seconds.

Delivering the right fit to these women is what I take pride in.

As a brand, we have always faced the challenge of normalising conversations around lingerie and intimate care in Indian society, where such topics are considered taboo. However, through our content marketing approach that blends education with entertainment, we have become one of the most socially engaged brands, winning awards for our social media efforts. Our products have organically made their way onto TV and been spotted with Bollywood celebrities.

Making history, we signed Bollywood A-lister Shraddha Kapoor as our brand ambassador, marking the first time a big name in the industry appeared in a TV campaign wearing our products and breaking down inhibitions around the category. The journey to this point is an achievement.

  1. Describe your FORE journey. What made you choose the institution, and how did it fulfil your learning aspirations?

As a young student in 2002, honestly, placements were on my mind as I selected the institutes to pursue post-CAT. However, I am glad I made this choice because of the work ethics on which Fore School disciplined me. Those work ethics developed early on in my career have kept me on the right path.

As a student with no prior work experience, Fore School, through its case-study method, taught me the way to appraise real-world problems, and I was as prepared as I could be when I started my first job. I also developed a wider worldview while at FORE because of the range of subjects we studied and corporate interactions as part of our curriculum.

  1. A message or a success mantra that you would like to give to your juniors.

There is rarely an alternative to Hard-work!
