BITS Pilani-Hyderabad Campus

In 2006, BITS Pilani acquired 200
acres of land from the Andhra
Pradesh government for a new
campus. The campus is located in Jawaharnagar, Shameerpet Mandal in the
Rangareddy district. The BITS
Pilani Hyderabad campus opened in 2008; the school also has a virtual
university and an extension center in Bangalore.
The campus has set up state-of-the-art infrastructure without affecting the
scenic beauty of the campus. Spacious labs, well-furnished classrooms, lecture
theatres and network infrastructure, all come together to make BITS Pilani,
Hyderabad an extremely well equipped campus.

There are six boys’ hostels and two
girls’ hostels. The hostels are equipped with solar water heating systems and playing
area which is used to play a host of games like badminton, volleyball, football
and cricket.

Academic
Programs at BITS

Around 700 students are admitted
every year into the first degree, higher degree and doctoral programmes. First degree admissions are through BITSAT and follows no reservation policy.

In
addition to the integrated first degree programmes, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad
offers a dual degree to the students of the science programmes. A dual degree
is basically two majors, one of them in the sciences and the other in
engineering. Currently over 40 research projects
are active on campus, most of which are backed by prominent funding agencies.

Extra-curricular activities

Pearl
is the official National Annual Cultural Festival of the campus and is held in
February. ATMOS is the techno-management fest usually held in October. Arena is
the National Annual Sports Festival of the campus.

Placement
data

The
placement track record of the institute is around 90% with about 150 large and
medium sized companies visiting the campus annually. Some of the recruiting
firms are Amazon, Deloitte, Hitachi Consulting, Morgan Stanley, Polycom, etc.
