TISSNET Pattern 2021

TISSNET is short form for Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test which is conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences for the admission to various master’s degree programs offered by the institute. It is National level entrance examination which does not offer the MBA course but offers the flagship course MA in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations (HRM & LR) that is equal to an MBA -HR degree.

Exam Pattern

The National Level Examination of TISS is conducted in the online mode and questions are asked on General Awareness, Mathematical, Logical Reasoning and English. The question type is generally the multiple-choice questions with 1 mark allotted for each question. There is no negative marking and the time duration is 1 hour 40 minutes. All the sections of the question paper are composed of several related topics.

Preparation Tips

The selection process for the range of master’s programs at various campuses by TISS includes the written examination, Group discussion and Personal Interview. The competition is tough, and applicant should follow the below tips to crack the selection process:

  1. The test is split into three parts -concept driven, practice intensive and environment sensitive.
  2. Applicants would need to clear their fundamentals for the concept driven which are mathematics and selected areas of English language proficiency. It is important that applicants should learn the basic concepts.
  3. It is recommended that applicant should practice a good number of sample papers for the practice intensive sections which are logical reasoning and selected areas of English Language proficiency.
  4. General awareness section is an environment sensitive and applicant should prepare for both current and static components of awareness.
  5. Applicant should prepare the strategy for the written examination and before preparing the time table, it is recommended that they gather the few information. It is important that applicant should know about TISSNET exam pattern, Syllabus for each section, books for TISSNET preparation, and tips from toppers to crack the TISSNET exam with high score.
  6. Applicant should also enrol for online TISSNET preparation or they can find the best coaching centre for the preparation of the examination.
  7. Applicant should read regularly the newspapers and can refer to Manorama Year Book which is a good source of preparation for updated GK questions.
  8. Applicant should join a good test series for TISSNET preparation. It is recommended that the mock tests and previous year question papers are great preparation tools to score high in the examination.
  9. If the difficulty level of the question paper is considered, then it is observed that the systematic study schedule is required to be followed for more than 3 months.
