JEE Advanced 2019 Syllabus

The syllabus for the year 2019 is yet to be declared. There will be the difference in JEE Main 2019 syllabus and JEE Advanced 2019 syllabus. However more or less it will be similar to the previous year JEE Advanced syllabus. A brief note on the subject wise syllabus is given below. Just the topics are listed. Refer the official website for detailed syllabus.


1.1. Physical chemistry

General topics; Gaseous and liquid forms of matter; chemical bonds and their atomic structure; Energetics; Chemical equilibrium; Electrochemistry; Chemical kinetics; Solid state; Solutions; Surface chemistry; Nuclear chemistry.

1.2. Inorganic chemistry

Isolation/preparation and properties of certain non-metals; Preparation and properties of certain compounds; Transition elements (3D series); Preparation and properties of certain oxides and chlorides; Ores and minerals; Extractive metallurgy; Principles of qualitative analysis.

1.3. Organic chemistry

Basic concepts; Preparation, properties, and reactions of alkanes; Preparation, properties and reactions of alkenes and alkynes; Reactions of benzene; Phenols; Characteristic reactions of certain compounds; Carbohydrates; Amino acids and peptides; Properties and use of certain important polymers; Practical organic chemistry.


2.1. Algebra

Algebra of complex numbers; Quadratic equation with real coefficient; Arithmetic and geometric progression; Logarithms and properties; Permutations and combination; Geometric interpretation.

2.2. Matrices

Equality, Transpose, addition, multiplication of matrices; Solving simultaneous linear equation with 2 or 3 variables; Inverse of a square matrix.

2.3. Probability

Addition and multiplication in probability; Bayes theorem; permutation and combination.

2.4. Trigonometry

Functions in trigonometry; addition and subtraction in trigonometry; solving trigonometric equations; rules in sine and cosine; Area of the triangle and half angle formula.

2.5. Analytical geometry

  • Two Dimensions

Various forms in Equation of line; various forms in the equation of circle, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola; Cartesian coordinates.

  • Three dimensions

The equation of a straight line in 3D space; Equation of a plane; Direction cosines and ratios.

2.6. Differential calculus

Polynomial, exponential and logarithmic functions; L’Hospital rule; Limit and continuity of a function; Lagrange’s mean value theorem

2.7. Integral calculus

A basic theorem in integral calculus; Integration by parts; solving the homogeneous differential equation; linear first order differential equation.

2.8. Vectors

Addition and multiplication of a vector and scalar quantities; geometrical interpretation.


3.1. General topics

Venire caliper; Young’s modulus; Basics in Pendulum; Topics relating to the concave and convex lens; Ohm’s law; meter bridge and post box office.

3.2. Mechanics

Cartesian coordinates; Newton’s law of motion; projectiles; elastic and inelastic collision; Gravitational law; Relative velocity; torque; Hook’s law; Fluid pressure; wave motion; Bernoulli’s theorem; Stokes law; Resonance; Doppler effect; continuity equation.

3.3. Thermal physics

Newton’s law of cooling; Kirchhoff’s law; Wien’s displacement law; Blackbody radiation; Ideal gas law.

3.4. Electricity and magnetism

Coulomb’s law; Gauss law; Capacitance; Electric current; Biot-Savart’s law; Faraday’s law; Len’z law; Electric current; magnetic properties; Moving coil galvanometer; ammeter and voltmeter.

3.5. Optics

Total internal reflection; wave nature of light; Huygens’s principle; Young’s double slit experiment; reflection and refraction; rectilinear propagation of light.

3.6. Modern Physics

Laws in radioactive decay; Half-life and mean life; alpha, beta and gamma radiation, Moseley’s law, De Broglie wavelength of nature; Decay constant.


Freehand drawing; Geometrical drawing; Three-Dimensional perceptions; Imagination and aesthetic sensitivity; Architectural awareness.
