VTU Admission 2023

VTU provides a wide array of academic programs, including approximately 23 undergraduate (UG), 67 postgraduate (PG), and 16 doctoral programs across various specialisations. In the UG category, VTU offers programs like B.Tech, B.Tech (Lateral Entry), B.Plan, and B.Arch with multiple specialisations. Admission to these UG programs is determined by the candidates’ performance in entrance exams such as JEE Main, KCET, and NATA, depending on the specific program.

On the PG front, the institute offers a diverse range of courses, including M.Tech, M.Arch, MBA, MCA, and MCA (Lateral Entry). These PG courses are designed to provide professional education in various disciplines. Admission to these PG programs relies on national-level entrance exams, including GATE, KMAT, NATA, PGCET, MAT, CAT, and other relevant entrance tests.

In the doctoral domain, VTU provides Ph.D. programs across numerous specialisations. To be eligible for these programs, students are required to have completed a master’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum aggregate of 55% from a recognised university. The institute conducts its own entrance examination for admission to these research-based programs, and applicants must participate in this aptitude test to be considered for selection.

In addition to these programs, VTU also offers a 1-year PG Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDHCM). Candidates interested in this course should possess a bachelor’s degree. Admission to the PGDHCM program is based on the merit achieved in the candidate’s previous qualifying examination.

VTU UG Admission 2023

VTU provides a variety of undergraduate programs, including B.Tech, B.Tech (Lateral), B.Plan, and B.Arch, across numerous disciplines. The B.Tech, B.Plan, and B.Arch programs have a duration of 4 and 5 years, respectively, while the B.Tech (Lateral) program can be completed in 3 years. All of these courses are offered in a regular, campus-based, full-time mode.

To be eligible for admission, candidates are required to have completed their 10+2 with PCM and obtained a minimum of 45% aggregate marks from a recognised board. Selection for the B.Tech program is based on the cutoff percentages of JEE Main or KCET, while for the B.Arch and B.Plan programs, students need to meet the cutoff percentile in NATA. The eligibility criteria for VTU’s UG programs are as follows:

  • B.Tech: Students should have obtained a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in their 10+2 examination from a recognised board with a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) subjects.

  • B.Arch: Candidates should have passed an examination at the end of 2nd PUC/12th Std/ 10+2 scheme of examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or they should have passed the 10+3 Diploma examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.

  • B.Plan: Students must have secured at least 50% marks in either the Pre-University examination conducted by the Karnataka State Pre-University Board with Mathematics as a compulsory subject, or in their 10+2 examination with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Engineering Drawing, Computer Science, Biology, Biotechnology, Electronics, or Computers, from a recognised board.

The selection criteria for VTU’s UG programs are as follows:

  • B.Tech: Students are required to achieve a valid score in either JEE Main or KCET. They need to meet or surpass the cutoff percentile specified by the university.

  • B.Arch and B.Plan: To be selected for the B.Arch or B.Plan program, students should obtain a qualifying score in NATA.

VTU PG Admission 2023

VTU offers a range of postgraduate programs in Management, Architecture, Engineering, and Computer Applications. These programs include MBA, M.Tech, MCA, and M.Arch. The duration of these courses is typically 2 years, except for MCA, which extends to 3 years for completion. All these programs are delivered in a full-time, on-campus, and regular mode. Furthermore, M.Tech programs provide various specialisations to choose from.

In order to qualify for admission to these programs, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised university. The selection process is based on the scores obtained in the respective entrance examinations. Students are required to participate in entrance tests such as PGCET, GATE, CAT, MAT, KMAT, XAT, and others. Below are some of the disciplines in which PG courses are offered:

VTU PG Eligibility Criteria

  • For M.Tech or M.Arch courses, students are required to hold a B.E or B.Arch degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised institution.
  • To be eligible for an MBA or MCA course, candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised institution.

VTU PG Selection Criteria

  • To secure admission to an M.Tech or M.Arch program, students must participate in the GATE/ PGCET entrance examination and achieve a qualifying score that meets the university’s prescribed cutoff percentile.
  • For admission to the MBA program at VTU, applicants must have taken the KMAT/ CAT/ MAT/ XAT examinations and attained a valid score that aligns with the institute’s cutoff criteria.
  • For selection into the MCA program, candidates must obtain a qualifying score in PGCET.

VTU Ph.D. Admission 2023

VTU provides Doctoral programs in various specialisations, with a duration of 3 years in a full-time, on-campus, regular mode. To qualify for a PhD program, students are required to have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in their postgraduate studies. Selection is based on the VTU Eligibility Test for Research. VTU PhD Eligibility Criteria

VTU PhD Selection Criteria

VTU conducts its own entrance test for admission to the research-based program. Candidates must participate in this entrance examination and achieve a qualifying score for selection.
