Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process

The admission into the flagship MBA program of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship leading to the MBA and the MBA Technology degree is based on the criterion and process as indicated below:

Eligibility Criterion:

Valid score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management.

A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

A minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the qualifying degree. A relaxation of 5% in marks (i.e. minimum of 55%) or equivalent in CGPA (i.e. min. 5.50 on a 10-point scale) for the SC/ST/PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates.

Final year students (of the above mentioned program) are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, on the condition that they meet all requirements for the qualifying degree before the start of the program and will produce a provisional certificate of completion within two months of joining the program. 

Admission Process:

The admission process involves two steps:

a. Initial Shortlisting

COMPOSITE SCORE will be calculated with due weights to

  • CAT Overall Scaled Score
  • Work Experience
  • Gender Diversity

Applicants will be shortlisted based on the composite score. Relaxation for all categories according to the norms of the Ministry of Education, Government of India will be followed when determining the cut-offs.

b. Final Selection

Candidates from all categories shortlisted based on the composite score shall be called for a Personal Interview through the virtual mode.

The final selection list will be based on the below with due weights to each of the components. Relaxation for all categories according to the norms of the Ministry of Education, Government of India will be followed when determining the cut-offs.

  • Composite Score

Application Fee: 

A non-refundable application fee of INR. 1000/- for Unreserved, OBC-NCL & EWS category and INR 500/- for the SC/ST/PwD category will be charged. 

For International Applicants: 

  • Graduates (or professional qualification equivalent to that of a University degree recognized by the UGC) in any discipline with first class or 60% marks earned in their degree from a recognized/reputed University.
  • Final year students (of the above mentioned program) are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, on the condition that they meet all requirements for the qualifying degree before the start of the program and will produce provisional certificate of completion within two months of joining the program.
  • Valid GRE/GMAT Score
  • Intake: 10

How to Apply

After taking the CAT 2021 examination, candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme must complete the following procedure:

STEP 1:

Complete the online application form available at IIT Jodhpur and SME’s website. The application form must be completed in all respects. Any incomplete form will automatically be rejected from further consideration.

STEP 2:

While submitting the online application form, make a payment for the application fee (Rs. 1000 for General & NC-OBC candidates and Rs. 500 for SC/ST/PWD). The fee once paid is non-refundable.

The last date for submitting the online application form is 28th February 2022.

For candidates joining by retaining job with the current employer:

Any candidate joining MBA programme at SME, IIT Jodhpur being sanctioned study leave/ sabbatical/ higher study leave must submit a NOC from the employer that they have no objection for the candidate to apply for summer internship or campus placement in any other organization or clearly restricting the candidate to undertake summer internship assignment with the employer and also join back.
