About College

An Autonomous Institution under Govt. of NCT of Delhi and affiliated to the University of Delhi, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is a seat of higher technical education in India. It was established in the year 1983 as Delhi Institute of Technology with the objective to meet the growing demands of a workforce in the emerging fields of engineering and technology with a close social and industrial interface. Over a period, the Institute has carved a niche for itself, both nationally and internationally, for excellence in technical education and research.NSIT rank among the top 10 Tech schools of the country by the Dataquest-IDC Survey 2015.

The college is offering six courses in the graduate engineering discipline and various courses in the postgraduate engineering discipline:

Admission

Admission Process:

  • Candidates have to qualify in JEE Main to secure admission in BE courses. Final admission is subject to Joint Admission Counselling (JAC).
  • GATE qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the M.Tech courses.
  • An M.Tech program is also offered to sponsored candidates under full-time and part-time modes. Admission is subject to candidates’ performance in Written Test and Interview.
  • For Teaching Research Fellowship (TRF) and Research Fellowship (RF), NSIT conducts its own departmental written Test followed by research area specific presentation and interview.
  • NSIT New Delhi also offers admission to the PhD program from commendable performance in UGC NET-LS/ CSIR NET/ GATE or other equivalent examination of National Level.

Placements

As a part of the curriculum, arrangements are made for the students to undergo practical training during winter and summer vacations in Multinational/Private/Public Sector Undertakings/Government Department and Foreign Universities. Some of the prominent industrial organizations in which NSIT Students have completed Internships include Microsoft, Amazon, Texas Instrument, Google, Qualcomm, Cisco, Hero Moto Corp, etc. Some of the PSU’s where students are enrolled for internships are MTNL, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Engineers India Limited, Airport Authority of India, etc.

Campus Recruitment Programme conducted by the Institute is very vital and crucial for theyoung engineers aspiring for appropriate placement in Government Departments, Multi-National Companies, Public Sector Undertakings etc.

So far a high percentage of eligible students have been offered jobs by reputed firms.

The Institute is giving a great deal of emphasis for strengthening the Industry Institute-interaction as well as interaction with other educational institution and R&D laboratories both at the national and international levels.

Infrastructure and Facilities

NSIT has a beautifully landscaped and fully residential campus, sprawling 145 acres of land. A prominent feature of NSIT’s campus is the vast expanse of flora & fauna that envelopes its entirety. The campus welcomes a diverse community of students, faculty, staff & visitors in its midst. Extra-curricular activities thrive at NSIT, giving students a chance to further indulge in their interests.

Hostel:


In the campus there are separate hostels for boys, girls and married students providing single rooms as well as rooms on a sharing basis. There are four boys hostel and one girls hostel. Each hostel is well equipped with water coolers, television, sitting area, indoor games and independent dining facilities.


Classroom:


The Institute has a well equipped audio-visual classroom with state of the art equipments and includes LCD projector, Computer, Overhead projector, adequate chairs, tables etc. which helps in conducting interactive sessions and project presentations.


Laboratory:


The Institute has a campus-wide gigabit backbone connecting all offices, laboratories, faculty offices, library and hostels. This provides 10.5 Mbps internet access. The entire system has redundant links from two different internet service providers (1SPs) to provide reliable operation round the clock. In addition, there are a few Wi-Fi hot spots in the Institute for the benefit of students and faculty.


Library:


The Library has a rich collection on science and Engineering text and references. In addition to this, a large number of research journals are also being subscribed to cater the teaching and research needs of the students and the faculty of NSIT.

National Merit Scholarship Scheme:

Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream for a particular Board of Examination, in class XII of 10+2 pattern or equivalent and not belonging to the creamy layer, pursuing regular courses (not correspondence or distance mode) from recognised educational institutions and not availing of any other scholarship scheme, would be eligible for consideration under this Scheme. This is applicable to all categories of students both ‘general’ and ‘reserved’.
