NIT Durgapur Scholarship 2025

NIT Durgapur provides a variety of merit-based, means-based, and government-funded scholarships to support deserving and financially needy students. These scholarships are available for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students.

Types of Scholarships Available

1. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

  • Awarded to students from economically weaker sections with good academic performance.

  • Applicable mostly to B.Tech and M.Tech students.

  • Eligibility: Annual family income should be below a specified threshold (usually ₹2.5–₹4.5 lakhs).

  • Covers tuition fees and/or provides a monthly stipend.

2. Central Sector Scholarship Schemes

  • Offered by the Government of India to students from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), minorities, and economically weaker sections.

  • Includes scholarships like:

    • Post-Matric Scholarship

    • National Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students

    • Top Class Education Scholarship for SC Students

  • Benefits: Full or partial tuition fee reimbursement, maintenance allowance, and book grants.

3. Institute-Level Financial Aid

  • NIT Durgapur provides internal financial aid to students facing sudden financial hardship.

  • Selection is based on academic performance and financial background.

  • May offer fee concessions or mess charge waivers.

4. Alumni and Private Scholarships

  • Funded by NIT Durgapur alumni associations and private donors.

  • Usually awarded based on a combination of merit and need.

  • Amounts vary depending on the sponsor’s contribution.

5. Scholarship for Single Girl Child / Differently-abled Students

  • Students falling under these special categories may be eligible for government-funded or NGO-sponsored scholarships.

General Eligibility Guidelines

  • Minimum academic performance (usually a CGPA above 7.0 or 8.0, depending on the scheme).
