Management Development Institute, popularly known as MDI Gurgaon, is a prominent business school of India. MDI offers various postgraduate programs in management which are recognized by AICTE. MDI has been ranked amongst the top 5 business schools in India by various magazines and surveys.

 

  1. Brief Introduction about the course

MDI offers various master’s level programs to its students, the most famous ones being Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Human Resource Management (PGDM-HRM), Post Graduate Diploma in Management – International Business (PGDM-IB). These MBA equivalent programs are of two years duration and aim to prepare future industry leaders to take on the global markets.

 

  1. Eligibility

For PGDM & PGDM-HRM

  • Minimum 50% marks in Class 10thand 12thexams or equivalent CGPA.
  • Applicant must have completed an undergraduate degree (minimum 3 years) from a recognized university or deemed university with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • Final year students may also apply subject to completion of the degree by 30thJune 2021.

 

For PGDM-IB

  • Minimum 50% marks in Class 10thand 12thexams or equivalent CGPA.
  • Applicant must have completed an undergraduate degree (minimum 4 years) from a recognized university or deemed university with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • Applicants must have a total work experience of at least 1-year.

 

  1. Selection Process 
  • Applicants must fill the online application form on the official website of MDI.
  • Online Application fee of Rs. 3,000+ GST to be paid by all applicants.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CAT scores and details filled in the application form.
  • The final list of selected candidates will be prepared after PI.

 

  1. Application Start and End date 
  • The application process starts from –       16thSeptember 2020
  • The application process ends on      –       27thNovember 2020, 5.00 PM

Mailed adcom 2 weeks ago but got no reply. In case of Maharashtra State Board, suppose my name is X(first name) Y(middle name) Z(last name) our 10th marksheet has name as Z X Y. So now after registering as per 10th marksheet, it is showing my name as Z Y, while X is my actual first name. Is it ok? Should I continue with form filling? Adcom please help. TIA.

Not getting the logic behind this decision, 500 kb file size limit for signature and 100 kb for marksheets? 


The image quality is really very poor if file size is kept under 100 kb.

Summer Placements 2020 at MDI - Scam Figures I am writing this post to edify CAT aspirants who will be hoping to crack entrance exams on 2020-21 and join premier B-Schools. While reading news reports about MDI completing its summer placements process of the 2020-22 batch, my attention was drawn to seemingly inaccurate numbers provided by the institute. As per a recent ET article (https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/top-b-school-placements-off-to-a-good-start/articleshow/79091769.cms), MDI's average stipend for Summer Placements increased to 2.4 Lakhs (for 2 months) from 2.31 Lakhs last year. I have never seen a bigger scam in top B-School's placement figures. Identifying the alleged scam The simplest way to identify this scam is to compare the average stipend of MDI with that of IIM Lucknow. IIML's previous year average stipend was 1.09 Lakhs Per Month or 2.18 Lakhs for 2 months (http://www.iiml.ac.in/sites/default/files/2019-10/1189122121MEDIAREPORT2019-20SUMMER-29October2019.pdf). The premier recruiters at IIML are those MDI could not and should not even dream of (companies such as MBB, Kearney, Mastercard...). This makes it extremely obvious to me that the numbers given out by MDI are a scam. Delving Deeper (my take) MDI has stayed out of the purview of RTIs (scam here too - https://preptube.in/news/mdi-scam-how-bjp-ruled-centre-was-an-accomplice-in-turning-govt-controlled-mdi-into-a-private-one/2019/05/12/), thus there is no way we can directly verify their figures. In a placements process, the placements committee asks companies for Job Descriptions which mentions details such as stipend, role, perks and benefits, etc (such as accomodation for 2 weeks, flight arrangements, etc). The standard practice to calculate the stipend/CTC by top institutes is to take the stipend/CTC mentioned in the JD of the company, multiply it by the offers made for the role and divide by the number of students placed. However, it seems MDI has been calculating the monetary value of the perks such as flight tickets/accomodation and increasing their figures using this cheap methodology. Further, they are not even following an accurate methodology for this. The placements committee simply increases the stipend by x% and thinks that this is justified. Verification It would be great if the placements chairperson Mr. Kanwal Kapil or the placements committee of the institute reveal the methodology to dispel my claim. Conclusion As aspirants who hope to join top B-Schools, please make an informed decision when the time comes and you are selecting which institute to join. Do not go by such fake figures that are being marketed by the institute using their PR agencies. Actual Top B-School Rankings (for 2021-23 batch) 1. Ahmedabad 2. Calcutta 3. Bangalore 4. Lucknow 5. FMS 6. XLRI 7. Kozhikode 8. SP Jain 9. Indore 10. MDI 11. IIFT The ongoing summer placements at IIM Lucknow have convinced me that it is better than FMS and XL. Also, I have not added TISS, JBIMS and a few other institutes because I am not fully aware of their actual placements. Further, this is just my general take, and it accounts for only the overall placement scenario - not domain wise.

I passed 10th from CBSE board. In the MDI form i am required to enter my 10th marks. But i got grades. What to do now ?

MDI Gurgaon has successfully completed yet another season of Summer Placements. Despite the hiring slowdown owing to the pandemic, the institute has not only completed the process in record time but also observed an increase in both the average and highest stipend. The average stipend for the Batch of 2020-22 stood at INR 2.42 lakhs.

Hi, I have not received any response to my mail to [email protected] , so I am posting my query here. I have made a small error in my application form. In the "Name of Institute" section for class 10, I have entered my own name instead of the Institute name. How can i rectify the error? Please help me out, thanks. @GauravJha_MDI

Hi, what is the last date to apply ? Do you accept XAT scores also ?

Hi Adcom, I have 13 months of workex from july 2019 to july 2020. However, when I fill the workex section, the following discrepancy is arising :

Company 1 : 02 July - 30 November (Counted as 4, instead of 5 months)

Company 2 : 02 December - 31 July (Counted as 7, instead of 8 months)

The total workex is automatically coming as 11 months.

Whereas, in the beginning of the form I have mentioned my workex in the beginning of section as 13 months.

Is it going to be an issue later on?

Whilst filling the application form, the latest semester marksheet has to be uploaded. Due to this Covid situation, my university hasn't yet given marksheet for 5th and 6th semester. Is it alright if I upload my 6th semester result screenshot from the university website?

I am from AndhraPradesh Board Of Intermediate Education for 12th. I have a certificate which gives both 11th and 12th marks and gives the aggregate of both as total marks in 12th. 


For example if i scored following marks, 


Subject1 (year -1) - 80/100 , Subject1 (year - 2) - 90/100


Subject2 (year -1) - 80/100 , Subject2 (year - 2) - 90/100


Total: 340 


Should I enter 12th marks for both years ( 80+90(170) , 80+90 (170) ) or only 2nd year (90, 90) ?

The Xth marks section ask to enter the marks of the following 5 subjects: English, Science, Maths, Social Studies and Hindi. 

But my Xth markseet (ICSE)  has 7 subjects (5 of the above + Comupter Apllications and Environmental Education) . 

What do I do? 


I would be grateful if someone could guide me. 🙂

Hi Adcom,


I have a query regarding the requirement of a 4 years Bachelor's degree for the PGDM IB program at MDI. I have graduated from Ashoka University that initially had a 4years degree. It got reduced to 3 years due to the UGC guidelines. Hence, the 4th year became an optional year in which we were given an option to complete our thesis, minor course requirements etc. In other words, it was an optional 4 year Bachelors program. However, we were given a Bachelors completion degree at the end of 3 years, and a Diploma at the end of the 4th year. I wanted to know if Bachelors degree along with a diploma (in this case) will fulfill the 4-years Bachelors requirement asked in the form. 


It would be extremely helpful if someone could guide me regarding this matter so that I can fill the form at the earliest. Thank you.
