NIT Meghalaya Admission Process

The registration window for BTech admissions in NIT Meghalaya for the year 2024 is currently open. Admission to this program is determined by the JEE Advanced 2024 score, followed by JoSAA Counseling. Interested candidates can now apply online on the official website jeemain.nta.nic. The JEE Main 2024 Session 1 and Session 2 dates have been announced. Session 1 of JEE Main 2024 will take place on January 24 and February 1, 2024, while Session 2 is scheduled for April 1 and April 15, 2024. For the General Category, the NIT Meghalaya BTech CSE Cutoff for 2023 ranged from 16663 to 19175.

On the other hand, NIT Meghalaya MTech Admissions are dependent on the GATE 2024 score. The registration process for GATE has concluded, and the admit cards will be available from January 03 onwards. GATE 2024 is set to be held on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024.

NIT Meghalaya offers a four-year B.Tech program in 5 specialisations. Out of 5 specialisations offered, the most opted stream at the institute is Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) with a cutoff ranging from 11402 to 91463 in the JoSAA Counselling. The cutoff marks for all rounds of JoSAA are out.

For the B.Tech admissions at NIT Meghalaya, candidates are required to appear for JEE Main examination and participate in the JoSAA counseling for the final seat allotments. NIT Meghalaya admission process involves other national level examinations too such as GATE, IIT JAM for the programs such as M.Tech and M.Sc respectively.

NIT Meghalaya B.Tech Admission 2024

NIT, Meghalaya provides PG-level M.Tech and M.Sc. programs. The institute additionally provides individuals with M.Tech (Part Time). The M.Tech program offers M.Sc. in three specialties and specialisation in four streams.

The minimal requirement for admission to the M.Tech. program is a B.Tech./B.E. with a minimum CPGA score of 6.5 out of 10. Admission to the M.Tech programme is determined by the GATE exam and through Centralised Counselling’s counseling process (CCMT)

Selection for M.Tech (Part-Time) is based on academic performance, valid GATE scores, work experience, and results from an institute-conducted written test.

The candidate must have a minimum of two years of professional experience in one of the following sub-categories: computer science, electronics and communication engineering, power and energy systems, fluids and thermal engineering, in order to be eligible for the M.Tech programme (Part-Time).

Candidates for admission to the M.Sc. programme must have earned a bachelor’s degree with at least 60% (6.5 CGPA for general candidates, and 55% (6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/OBC candidates) or 6.5 CGPA. The institute conducts a written examination as the foundation for M.Sc. admission.

Key points to remember for PG admission –

  • For the Part-Time course, the candidate must be a regular employee of the organisation/institute.
  • For candidates opting for M.Tech on Part time basis GATE exam is not essential.
  • Written Tests for the M.Sc course will be conducted on the basis of topics given by the Institute.

NIT Meghalaya Ph.D. Admission 2024

The institute offers eight concentrations for the Ph.D. Candidates must earn a master’s degree in engineering, science, technology, management science, or the arts and must have a minimum grade point average (CGPA) of 60%. Candidates having a B.E./B. Tech with at least 75% of the required grades and a valid GATE score may also apply. A minimum of 55% in the Master’s degree is needed for admission to the Ph.D. program in humanities and social sciences. Written tests and interviews are used to select students for the Ph.D. program.

Key considerations for admission to the Ph.D. program –

  • Candidates from SC and ST receive a 5% grade relaxation.
  • Candidates are only entitled to apply temporarily in cases of pending results provided all conditions are met no later than September 2023.

How to Apply for a Ph.D. at NIT Meghalaya?

Candidates must submit online application forms to enroll in Ph.D. courses. Additionally, in order to take entrance tests like JEE Main or GATE, a candidate needs to submit an application form.

The following are the steps to apply:

  • Click on the link to the required courses on the institute’s official website.
  • Prior to beginning the application form filling process, pay the application fees.
  • There are two ways to make payments: using HDFC and online SBI Collect.
  • Visit the SBI website to pay fees using the Online SBI Collect method.
  • To make a payment with SB Collect, click the link.
  • Select the box next to “Agree to Terms” to continue.
  • Select “Submit” after selecting every option from the drop-down menu boxes.
  • On the payment screen, choose Application Fees and then click Confirm.
  • By choosing a payment method, pay the fees.
  • Fill in the reference number and payment date as prompted on the application form.
  • Complete the application form accurately, then submit it.

NIT Meghalaya B.Tech/ M.Tech: How to Apply?

  • Candidates seeking admission can register by completing all the steps specified in the application process given below:
  • The relevant counselling boards will issue a notification, and then the application forms will be formally made available on each website.
  • Candidates must complete an online application and submit it together with scanned copies of their identification documents, including their photograph and signature (if applicable)
  • Before locking the selections, enter your college preferences in decreasing order of preference and carefully arrange them in priority.
  • After choices have been locked, seats will be assigned based on the ranks and scores entered for the institute and courses selected.
