National Institute of Design – [NID], Kurukshetra Overview

National Institute of Design Kurukshetra (NIDK) commenced functioning on 15th of November, 2016. Anand Sharma, the then Union Minister of Commerce and Industry laid the foundation stone of the institute. Earlier, the classes were conducted elsewhere that was shifted to the present campus in 2015.

NID offers only undergraduate level design courses. It offers full-time Graduate Diploma Programme in Design with a duration of four years at the Undergraduate level of study. 

In education, NID Kurukshetra is rated 4.4 for its study of design. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved the institute. The institute has also been approved by the Association of Indian Universities.

NID Kurukshetra has several departments of design that are controlled by the faculty members. NID courses are only offered at the undergraduate level of study. It offers a full-time Graduate Diploma Programme in Design or GDPD with specializations in Communication Design, Textile and Apparel Design and Industrial Design. NID Kurukshetra Admission Process

All the applicants are allowed to enter a particular course on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying exam. Candidates are required to get a certain score in the DAT exam for NID Kurukshetra admission. The full form of DAT is Design Aptitude Test. The exam is followed by a Studio Test round. The selection of the candidates depends on the combined marks scored in the qualifying exam and the Studio Test round. NID placements offer many job opportunities to its students. The institute has its own placement cell that facilitates the placement of all passed out students. The cell provides training to the students. Soft skills like personality development etc. are focused. The cell also ensures that every student gets placed according to his or her interests and abilities. Mock tests, mock interviews etc. are organized to make students understand the real working environment. In other words, NID Kurukshetra placement activities are completely looked after by the placement cell.

NID Kurukshetra Scholarships

Very few are lucky enough to bag the NID scholarship facility. The institute ensures financial assistance to the students who need it and are deserving too.  Foreign candidates have to expect the scholarships from their residential country for scholarships. Kurukshetra campus has no tie-ups with any bank and therefore, no education loan facility is available for students.
