Lucknow University Campus Facilities

Formerly known as the Canning College, the University of Lucknow had no building of its own, in the earlier days. The scene of its activity has periodically changed as some of the buildings proved to be unsuitable or insufficient.

The University was shifted from Lucknow University old campus, which is the Aminuddaulah Palace, to several places, and was finally housed in its building at the Kaisar Bagh.

For over 30 years the Lucknow University remained in the building at Kaisar Bagh, but the site was not suitable for the overall development of the big residential institution.

In 1905 the Government handed over an extensive walled garden of an area of about 90 acres situated on the north of the river Gomti, popularly known as “Badshah Bagh”, to the college.

The place was originally King Nasiruddin Haidar’s garden house, and after the pacification of Avadh, it became the Lucknow residence of Maharaja of Kapurthala and now it is the Lucknow University new campus. To know the exact Lucknow University address, one can navigate to the map.

The University provides a total of 13 Lucknow University hostels for boys and girls as a part of the campus facility. New Management Girls Hostel and the Kailash Hall can house nearly a total of  600 female students.

Essentials such as extra-curricular and also employment needs of the students are well taken care of by associations and various centres, such as Athletic Association, Delegacies, Information and Employment Bureau and Centre for Information, Centre for Cultural Activities, Publication and Public Relations.

To create awareness for the social service amongst the students, the University has introduced the organization of the regular National Service Scheme programmes. Apart from that, the Lucknow University also works to impart military training to its students through the help of its NCC Wing, the cadets of the Army.

The university also contributes to the society effectively with the help of the Naval Wings by participating in activities like facilitating traffic control, election duties, tree plantation, blood donation, etc.
