IIT Palakkad Scholarship

IIT Palakkad provides several scholarship opportunities for students from reserved categories and those with disabilities, following the Government of India’s guidelines. Financial assistance is primarily offered to students pursuing PG research-based programs and doctoral programs in the form of Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA). Additionally, students at IIT Palakkad can explore education loans to support their academic expenses. Here are some of the prominent scholarship schemes available at IIT Palakkad.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship:

The Merit Cum Means Scholarship is a highly sought-after scholarship at IITs, with only 25% of the students admitted being eligible for it. To qualify for this scholarship, the basic requirements include an annual family income of less than INR 4.5 lakhs. The scholarship is renewed every semester, contingent on maintaining a minimum GPA of 5 in the passed subjects. Recipients of the Merit Cum Means Scholarship are granted an exemption from paying tuition fees, in addition to receiving a monthly pocket allowance of INR 1000. 

Free Studentship:

In contrast to the Merit Cum Means Scholarship, the Free Studentship is available to more than 25% of the students at the institute. To be eligible for the Free Studentship, a student’s annual parental income must be less than INR 4.5 lakhs. Additionally, to renew the Free Studentship every semester, a student is required to maintain a minimum GPA of 5 in the passed subjects. Recipients of the Free Studentship are granted an exemption from paying tuition fees.

Scholarship for SC/ST Students:

The SC/ST Scholarship is tailored for students belonging to SC/ST categories with an annual family income of less than INR 4.5 lakhs. To continue receiving the benefits of the SC/ST Scholarship, a student must maintain a minimum GPA of 5 in the previous semester. Under this scholarship scheme, SC/ST students are exempt from paying tuition fees based on their academic performance at the institute. Additionally, students receive free basic meals along with a pocket allowance of INR 250 per month.

Scholarship for PD Students:

The PD Scholarship is specifically for students with disabilities (PD), and it is provided regardless of their annual family income and academic performance. Students with disabilities are exempt from paying tuition fees under this scholarship scheme.
