About College

College of Engineering Pune (COEP) was established in 1854. This institute was first established by the British but later on, a new infrastructure was formed. The foundation of the college was laid by Sir Bartle Frere, the Governor of Bombay. Theodore Cooke was the first principal of the institute.

COEP Pune offers 35 courses on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. COEP offers B. Tech and M. Tech courses in subjects like Information Technology, Production Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Mechatronics, Project Management etc. All these full-time courses are available for a different duration.

COEP College is ranked 21st by The Week and 17th by Indian Today in 2019. As per Times COEP ranking is 7 among other engineering colleges in India. Outlook has ranked COEP 15th for engineering courses. National Institutional Ranking Framework has ranked COEP College Pune 45th among other institutes in India.

Under the guidance of Faquir Chand Kohli, the chairperson of the institute, 164 faculty members run the institute. These dedicated and ambitious faculty members ensure the success of students’ academic journey and professional startups.

The faculty members of the institute have years of working experience, which enables them to make tough topics easy for students through different teaching techniques.

College of Engineering Pune Courses offered and Fee Structure

There are many courses offered by the institute on different academic levels. The courses offered in COEP include B. Tech, M. Tech, PhD and diploma courses. B. Tech and B. Tech Lateral courses are offered in subjects like Metallurgical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering etc. M. tech courses are offered in Structural Engineering, Embedded Control, Geotechnical Engineering, Biomedical Instrumentation, Design Engineering etc. subjects. PhD and PG Diploma courses are offered in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Enterprise Resource Planning Systems etc. subjects.

All courses are available in full-time options with a duration of two to four years. COEP fees for all the courses include Rs. 90,350 for B. Tech (1st year), 1.14 lakhs is M. Tech COEP Pune fees and 87,850 for PhD (1st year).

College of Engineering Pune Admission Process

COEP admission is offered to all the applicants willing to get admitted to engineering courses on different levels offered by the institute on the basis of the MHT CET/JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) or GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering) exam.

The applicants are required to get a certain score in the qualifying exams to get admitted to the courses in the institute. B. Tech applicants are required to get certain JEE Mains score and COEP MTech admission is done on the basis of a certain GATE score.

JEE exam is followed by a counselling round conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority.  After this round, a personal interview round takes place. The final selection of the candidates is based on the combined score of the qualifying exams and the personal interview round.

  •  For admission in full-time B. Tech. course, the JEE score is considered.
  • For admission in full-time M. Tech. course, GATE score is considered. 
  • For admission in the PhD course, qualifying exam result is considered. 

College of Engineering Pune Placements

COEP placements are an eagerly awaited affair in a session. The training and placement cell is designed to give employment to the passed out students. The institute’s placement cell ensures that every student gets placed according to his/her skill and interest. Many companies visit the campus with lots of job opportunities in reputed companies.

The training session is held for students to train them for professional competition in advance. The internship within the campus is also offered to students. COEP MTech placements have also witnessed a major success over the last few years.

Top recruiters of the institute include TCS, Wipro, Infosys, IBM Software, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, Tata Elxsi, H.P etc. Highest salary package is 39 LPA and average salary package is 6 LPA.

College of Engineering Pune Results and Cut off

COEP cut off list is announced after the qualifying exam results are declared for the year. The COEP cutoff list is the deciding factor for candidates willing to take part in the B. Tech, M. Tech or PhD courses offered by the institute.

Candidates have to cross the COEP College cut off score to get admitted to the course. B. Tech candidates have to cross the MHT-CET/JEE Main cut off score and M. Tech candidates have to cross the COEP GATE cutoff score.

The COEP Pune cut off list is prepared on the basis of the number of participating candidates, their scores in qualifying exams, the difficulty level of the exam and number of seats for a particular course in the institute.

College of Engineering Pune Alumni Network

College of Engineering Pune Scholarships

COEP offers many scholarships to the meritorious and poor students on Merit Cum Means basis. The toppers of the JEE Mains and GATE are also offered scholarships. Scholarships are provided to the students in the form of the tuition fee waiver, exemption of hostel or mess fees from the total fees or financial aid.

Other scholarship schemes include the students belonging to lower caste such as SC, ST, OBC and physically disabled and are provided by the Central government. These scholarships encourage students to work harder for more achievements.

COEP campus is located in the Wellesley Rd, Shivajinagar, Pune, Maharashtra 411005 with a capacity to provide many campus facilities like well equipped classrooms, a library with e-books and journals, indoor and outdoor activity areas, hygienic canteen, spacious hostel rooms for boys and girls, computer centre with latest software, laboratory etc.

All these facilities make this campus a perfect place for students. Within the campus, there are separate buildings for COEP hostel for girls and boys both.
