CEPT University, also known as the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, is situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the capital city of the state. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various fields related to the natural and developed environments of human society. It has distinct faculties for Architecture, Planning, Design, Technology, and Management, focusing on each discipline.

Within CEPT University, there are 10 study centers dedicated to specific areas of study:

CEPT University UG Admission 2023

CEPT University provides undergraduate programs including B.Arch, BUD, BID, BCT, and B.Des. The admission process for these courses follows specific guidelines. For B.Arch, BID, and B.Des, 50% of the seats are filled based on the ACPC guidelines established by the Government of Gujarat, while the remaining 50% are filled according to CEPT University’s regulations. The minimum eligibility requirement for these programs is a 10+2 qualification in the relevant field of study.

To secure admission in B.Arch, a valid NATA score is necessary, while for BID, a valid UCEED score is required. As for BCT, candidates must have a valid JEE Main score, and for BUD, the university conducts the CEPT Aptitude Test as the basis for admission.

Courses Eligibility Criteria Seats Selection Process
B.Arch A candidate should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or pass in 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject 80 Candidates have to clear the aptitude test i.e NATA for the admission to the Programme. The CEPT announces its merit list every year according to the available seats.
Note – 50% seats will be filled on the basis of ACPC guidelines of Government of Gujarat, while the remaining 50% seats will be filled based on the merit list prepared by CEPT University
Bachelor of Civil Engineering (B.Tech {Hons.}) A candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics/ Mathematics / Chemistry/ Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/ Entrepreneurship (Any of the three). Obtained at least 45% marks in the above subjects taken together. 40 Admission is based on marks obtained in the qualifying exam and JEE Main/ GUJCET.
Bachelor of Urban Design (BUD) A candidate should have passed 10+2 with 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics & also 50% aggregate for all subjects or 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks 40 Admission to the course will be based on the score of the NATA test. The merit will be prepared by the CEPT University.
Bachelor of Design (B.Des)
Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subjects
40 Candidates have to clear the aptitude test i.e NATA for the admission to the Programme. The CEPT announces its merit list every year according to the available seats.
Note – 50% seats will be filled on the basis of ACPC guidelines of Government of Gujarat, while the remaining 50% seats will be filled based on the merit list prepared by CEPT University

NATA Exam Pattern

The Council of Architecture has recently announced the updated exam pattern for NATA. As per the latest notification available on the Council of Architecture’s website, the exam will now be conducted in an online mode. Here are the comprehensive details regarding the NATA examination:

CEPT University PG Courses 2023

CEPT University provides full-time PG programs such as M.Tech and M.Des in different disciplines. The M.Tech program includes opportunities for student exchange programs to enhance the learning experience. To be eligible for these programs, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field. Admission to the M.Tech program is based on the CEPT Entrance Test and subsequent counseling.

For the M.Des program, candidates are required to appear in the CEPT Common Design Aptitude Test and CEPT Subject-Specific Design Aptitude Test.

In addition, CEPT University offers M.Arch and various other master’s programs in fields like Urban Planning, Urban Infrastructure, Urban Design, Urban Management, Landscape Architecture, and Housing & Transport. Admissions to the M.Arch program are granted based on academic scores, course purpose, recommendations, and an interview. The university conducts separate written tests and GD/PI sessions for admissions into other master’s programs.

M.Arch (Architectural Design) Candidates shall have passed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B. Arch) or equivalent recognized by the Council of Architecture (COA) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks for general category candidates and 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates from a recognised University. Admission procedure consists of two stages.
Stage I

  1. Experts Committee will be set up for the program to assess documents and portfolio to shortlist eligible candidates for the program.
  2. Admissions for some seats may be offered at this stage to applicants with exceptional performance and records

Stage II
The assessment process for this stage will be completely online
Some candidates may be informed regarding their eligibility for scholarships and admission after Stage I. All selected candidates will be called for an online Multiple Choice Test and an online Design Time Problem for the final decision on admissions. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in Stage II. 

M.Arch (Tectonics)
M.Arch (Housing Design)
M.Arch/MA (Conservation and Regeneration) Eligibility for M Arch (Conservation and Regeneration)
Candidates shall have passed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BArch) with minimum 55% aggregate marks and 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates from any of the recognized Universities or Institutes situated in India.

Eligibility for MA (Conservation and Regeneration)
Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination B.Tech (Structural, Civil), B. A in Archaeology, Bachelors in Interior Design (Minimum 4 years), Bachelors in Urban Design or Planning (Minimum 4 years).Minimum requirement to apply for the programs is 55% aggregate marks for general category candidates and 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates in the qualifying degree

An Experts Committee will be set up for the program to assess all submitted material.

M.Arch/MA (Architectural History and Research) Eligibility for M Arch (Architectural History and Research)
Candidates shall have passed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B. Arch) or equivalent recognized by the Council of Architecture (COA) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks for general category candidates and 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates from a recognized University.

Eligibility for MA (Architectural History and Research)
Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination B.Tech (Structural, Civil), Bachelors in Interior Design (Minimum 4 years), Bachelors in Design (B.Des) (Minimum 4 years), Bachelors in Urban Design or Planning (Minimum 4 years).Minimum requirement to apply for the programs is 55% aggregate marks for general category candidates and 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates in the qualifying degree.

Admission procedure consists of two stages.

Stage I – Shortlisting the candidates
The stage I is the screening stage. Eligibility criteria for clearing stage I consists of two parameters. Applicants meeting below mentioned criteria will be shortlisted for Stage II of admission process

  • Minimum requirement of 55% aggregate marks for general category candidates and 50 % aggregate marks for reserved category candidates in the qualifying degree.
  • Written Portfolio – Plagiarism check with a zero plagiarism tolerance

Stage II
The assessment process for this stage will be completely online

Candidates selected at Stage I will be shortlisted for Stage II of assessment process for the final decision on the admissions.

M.Arch (Landscape Architecture) The candidate should have

  1. A first professional undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design and Urban design disciplines with at least four full-time academic years in duration offered by a recognized University or Institution.
  1. i) A postgraduate degree in any of the disciplines like Botany, Ecology, Horticulture, Geography, Agriculture, Forestry, Geology, Hydrology or similar natural sciences of a minimum of two years of full-time study with a prescribed bridge course*.
  2. ii) 4 years Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Planning with a prescribed bridge course*.

*Please note: For group B candidates, the admission given will be provisional subject to their successful completion of a prescribed 3 week bridge course offered by CEPT University .

Minimum requirement to apply for the program is 55% aggregate marks for general category candidates and 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates in the qualifying degree.

Two years professional and/or teaching experience along with drawing and presentation (hand and digital) skills are desirable.

All applications will be screened at this stage in the following manner:

  1. An Expert Evaluation Committee will be set up for the program to assess documents and portfolio to shortlist eligible candidates for the program.
  2. Admissions for some seats may be offered at this stage to applicants with exceptional performance and records

Statement of Purpose and portfolio content will be checked for plagiarism with an acceptable tolerance of zero percent.

Stage II
The assessment process for this stage will be completely online

Some candidates may be informed regarding their eligibility for scholarships and admission after Stage I*. All selected candidates will be called for an interview. The merit list for the remaining seats will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained in Stage II.

* The top scoring candidates from Stage I of evaluation will be informed about their eligibility for scholarship and admission. This will be provisional to the candidate clearing the minimum criteria set by the admission committee for the Stage II of evaluation process. It is mandatory for all eligible candidates to participate in the Stage II of admission process.

CEPT University MUM Admission 2023

CEPT University also provides Master’s programs in the field of Urban Management. Admission to this program is based on several criteria, including a valid CAT, MAT, or CMAT score, Statement of Purpose (SOP), work experience, and the Urban Management Aptitude Test (UMAT).

Master of Urban Management Bachelor’s degree in any stream with 50% aggregate marks (45% marks for candidates belonging to reserved categories) Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of eligibility criteria, valid score in CAT, MAT or CMAT, academic performance, work experience, and awards/ recognition mentioned in the application form along with a one-minute video of the candidate introducing themselves and elaborating about one urban issue that the candidate feels strongly about.

Applicants who clear stage I will be called for an online written exam – UMAT (Urban Management Aptitude Test). The written test will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based on reading comprehension and awareness on urban issues.

In Stage IV, a merit will be prepared by the University for the final admission to the course.

 

CEPT University M.Phil & Ph.D. Admission 2023

CEPT University also provides M.Phil and Ph.D. programs at the Doctorate level in the fields of Planning and Architecture. Admissions for these programs are typically conducted in two cycles, known as the Monsoon Semester and Spring Semester, which take place in July and January, respectively.

To secure admission, candidates are required to appear for the CEPT Entrance Test followed by an Interview. However, candidates who have qualified GATE or GRE are also eligible to apply. The application form can be filled out online, and there is an application fee of INR 3500 that needs to be paid.

Please note that students without an architectural background will be awarded a Ph.D. degree in ‘Built Environment Studies’.
