Scholarships

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Scholarships

Students, whether GATE or NON-GATE qualifiers, have access to scholarships as outlined below:

For GATE-qualified candidates: In accordance with the regulations of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), all GATE-qualified candidates are entitled to a Post Graduate Scholarship of Rs. 12,400/- per month. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s M. Tech. Programs are accredited by AICTE, making GATE scholars eligible for these scholarships.

For NON-GATE students: Non-GATE candidates have the opportunity to apply for Merit or Endowment scholarships across various programs, as detailed below:

  • Endowment Scholarship: Available for 10 programs, where the top 40% of eligible students in each program receive the scholarship.
  • MERIT Scholarship: Applicable to 25 programs, with the top 30% of eligible students in each program qualifying for the scholarship.

Highly motivated students are also encouraged to explore dual degree programs offered in collaboration with universities in Europe, the US, and Australia.

Endowment Scholarship for Non-GATE Students

  • A scholarship will be awarded to the top 40% of eligible students in each program.
  • Scholarship amounts vary up to Rs 1 Lakh.

Amrita Chancellor’s Scholarship

Scholarships at Amrita are awarded to students based on their academic performance and performance in the admission interview. The criteria for Amrita scholarships are outlined as follows:

Scholarship Fee Waiver Marks (as per Indian equivalency system)
Amrita Chancellor scholarship 100% Tuition fee waiver >80% in Grade 12 / UG/ PG
Amrita Meritorious scholarship 50% Tuition fee waiver 70% to 79% in Grade 12 / UG
  • The above scholarships are applicable for UG, PG, and PhD programs.
  • The above scholarships are not applicable for programs in the field of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health Sciences.

Clauses To Maintain The Amrita Scholarship

  • Amrita scholarships are awarded on a one-time renewable basis for any single program in an academic year. They are valid for one year and renewable annually based on academic performance and conduct.
  • Scholarships are tuition fee waivers only, and the amount of waiver depends on the type of scholarship awarded. They cannot be extended to other fee categories or substituted for cash.
  • Students cannot hold more than one scholarship at a time, regardless of the type and amount.
  • The Scholarship Committee determines the evaluation criteria for renewal or cessation of scholarships, with applicable renewal conditions based on satisfactory academic performance, regular class attendance, and good behavior throughout the program.
  • To retain the scholarship, students must maintain a CGPA of at least 7.0 every semester. Failure to do so will result in the tuition fee for the remainder of the program becoming due.
  • Students must have a minimum class attendance of 75% or as per program requirements in any semester/trimester to attend exams. Failure to meet this requirement will result in withdrawal of the scholarship due to academic negligence. Exceptions for emergencies must be approved by the department Chairperson in advance.
  • Scholarship recipients must maintain discipline and acceptable behavior as per the University’s moral code of conduct. Any disciplinary action will result in immediate loss of the scholarship.
  • Exceptions to the scholarship clauses are at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, and its decisions are final.
  • Scholarships are awarded based on academic transcripts submitted by the student. Any discrepancy in supporting documents will result in immediate withdrawal of the scholarship or admission.
  • Students must submit the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) equivalence certificate for any foreign academic qualifications to complete eligibility criteria. Failure to do so may lead to withdrawal of the scholarship.
  • Submission of the Amrita Scholarship form at the time of admission is mandatory to maintain the scholarship.
  • Amrita reserves the right to utilize scholarship recipients to support promotional activities, and recipients agree to act as Amrita Student Ambassadors.
  • Adherence to scholarship clauses mandated by the University will ensure favorable recommendations for student opportunities abroad during the study term at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Scholarships such as Study In India (SII), Compex, and GSS are accessible for studying at Amrita. The terms set forth by the governing authorities of each scholarship will apply.
