The Chief Guest for the inauguration of the conference was Nesim Tumkaya, UNFPA Representative. Also present on the occasion were Mr. Shadrack Omol, UNICEF Representative for the State of Orissa; Prof PKB. Nayar, President, IASSH; Dr KE Vaidyanathan, Vice-President, IASSH; Fr PT Joseph, S.J., Director, XIMB; Prof WS William, Dean, XIMB; Fr EA Augustine, SJ, Dean (Admn. & Fin), XIMB and Prof S. Peppin, Organising Secretary, Professor and Coordinator, Centre for Healthcare Management, XIMB.
Speaking on the conference Shri. Pradeep Jena, Assistant Country Director, UNDP Orissa Programmes, said “There is a very long way to go in order to achieve the MDGs. There is a need for all of us to act together and put in all our efforts. I sincerely believe that the conference will contribute immensely in understanding what needs to done in order to achieve MDGs pertaining to Health sector.”
