Manipal, July 3, 2023: T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), one of India’s premier B-schools with the prestigious double crown accreditation (AACSB, AMBA), commenced the academic year for the batch 2023-25 on June 30 and July 01, 2023. TAPMI welcomed the 41st batch of MBA, 10th batch of MBA – Banking & Financial Services (BKFS), 6th batch of MBA – Human Resources (HRM), 5th batch of MBA- Marketing, and 2nd batch of MBA – International Business (IB). The batch is comprised of 530 students across programs.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Kurian Jose, Chief Executive Officer, TATA Pension Management Limited, shared how to make the most out of the TAPMI experience. He also shared the important skills and competencies that a recruiter looks for in prospective candidates. He advised students to manage their money well and on the importance of saving and finished the talk by giving them some life lessons like taking care of their health and having a mentor. Mr. Jose is an alumnus of Batch 1998-2000.

The Guest of Honour, Ms. Shweta Paliwal, Assistant Vice President, JP Morgan Chase, shared her experience and learnings during and after her time at TAPMI. She shared her journey in the corporate world. She shared that TAPMI can be life changing and will become a pathway to design a great career, life. Ms. Paliwal is an alumna of Batch 2010-12.

Welcoming the new batch, Prof. Durga Prasad, Director In-charge TAPMI, outlined the legacy of the founder Shri T A Pai. He also highlighted several aspects of TAPMI, which makes it one of the best B-schools in India. Prof. Aniruddha Chatterjee, Admissions Chair, TAPMI presented the batch profile to the inductees. The 500+-strong batch with an average CAT/XAT scores at 83.41 percentile has students from diverse educational backgrounds (66% non-engineers) with representation from 25 states and UTs of India. The percentage of female students is 40%. We had a session by Ms. Sukanya Chowdhary on Student Counselling facilities at MAHE. The first session concluded with an address by Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice Chancellor, MLHS, and MAHE Bangalore. He shared the expectations, through the tale of two cities, that TAPMI has from the students.

Prof. Tathagata Ghosh, Associate Dean Academics, discussed the Culture and Philosophy of Academics at TAPMI followed by Program Structure and Pedagogy at TAPMI. Prof. Rajiv Shah, Chairperson-PGP presented the PGP Overview and Guidelines. The first day of Induction concluded with faculty introductions by respective area chairs and Director-Parent connect in the evening.

On the second day of Induction, a panel discussion by industry experts was conducted, followed by an awareness session on gender and sexual harassment by Ms. Latha Holla. The Program heads presented the program highlights, followed by presentations on Corporate Engagement, Quality and Accreditations, Alumni Connect, Library and IT Facilities, Community Engagement, TAPMI finance lab, LADC and student activities and life at TAPMI by the respective Chairs and Activity Heads. The second day session ended with the batch address by Prof. Rajiv Shah, Chairperson PGP. 

Other sessions like Yes+ and team building commenced on July 2, 2023. The activities will take place in the next four days within the campus of TAPMI.
