My Journey in NSB: A Road Less Travelled

At times in life, you find yourself in a dilemma where you have many reasons to give away an opportunity and only a few to select it. A year ago, I was in the same situation while making a decision to opt for NSB, but then I decided to go ahead with it.

Selecting NSB was not just a leap of faith, stakes were high for me. After doing engineering from DCE and working in NTPC for 6 years, I was looking for an opportunity for higher studies.I have taken my GMAT and scored 690 in it. Because of my good profile and GMAT score, chances of me being selected in any of the good B-school were fairly high. While heading on this road and waiting for B-school applications to open, I heard about NTPC School of business from one of my seniors who was pursuing his MBA from there. Getting a good feedback from him, I appeared for its exam & interview & got selected for is the 3rd batch. Now, this becomes a dilemma where I have an opportunity to get into any B-school or to be in a college which is one of its kind. NTPC school of business is providing Executive PGDM course for 15 months which is unique in the way that it is more focused an energy sector and its faculty includes not just the good professor but many top – notch industry experts.

So new the choice in between those institute that are already established and NSB, which is in its infant stage but have lot many things for those who want to have good industry exposure with classroom leaning. I choose to be a part of it .This decision was not easy for me because not only I am not giving up my not option to be in other B-school but also signing a bond with NTPC. This was still manageable but being only a single female participant in the batch of 24 was the actual challenge .I took this opportunity and got into NSB.

And, here I am in the final team of NSB. Today I am an actually proud of and happy with my decision of selecting NSB .In one year, not only I gained a lot about management and energy sector but also I evolved as a person. Value addition in terms of knowledge and confidence that I got from NSB will always stay with me. During the period of one years, we not only have rigorous classes from experienced professors of renowned institutes but also have various interaction sessions with top people from NTPC/TATA’S/SBI/IIFCL and so on.NSB was doing well but its perseverance for excellence ended it up with IIM-A, where IIM-A join hands with NSB to be its mentor and guiding through its journey for the top. This Exposure of IIM-A and its faculty is just a feather in its hat.

Days keep on passing and level of rigour keep on increasing for us sleepless nights, endless presentations and exam become a part of us. I began my each day with target & positivity in my mind .This is the change that I would always admire.

NSB is leaving no stone unturned to provide quality learning. Be it MOU with IIM-A or foreign immersion tie-up with the University of Cambridge, U.K. It is moving ahead in a big way. Today, I am glad for my decision and considers myself fortunate to be part of NSB in its initial years when it is transiting for more.

With such strenuous effort and quality delivery, I am sure very soon, NSB will be in the league of India’s top B-schools.
