The Punjab State Education Board, abbreviated as PSEB, is the education board in the state of Punjab. It operates from Mohali in Chandigarh, and its responsibility entails looking into the education system in the public schools of Punjab.

Besides administering the curriculum in these schools, the Punjab State Education Board also offers scholarships. It is also known for publishing textbooks. PSEB conducts the examination for recruitment of teachers which is known as the PSTET.

Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test or the PSTET is the state teacher eligibility test which is conducted with the aim of incorporating teachers with the best capabilities to ensure a better quality of education.

The PSEB had released the official notification for the 2019 PSTET examination. The notification is available on the official website of PSEB.

The process of registration and application has begun from the 3rd of November 2019. The applications will continue till 25th November 2019.

The date for the exam has been set in the month of December, that is, 15th December 2019. Candidates will also be able to access the correction portal for their forms once the application process is over, that is, from 26th November. Admit cards are expected to be out at least a week before the exams.

In order to apply for the exam, candidates can take help of a few steps given below.

  • Step-1: Visit the official website of PSTET, which is, http://pstet.net/
  • Step-2: If the candidate is applying for the first time, they must click on the ‘New User’ option.

OR

If the candidate is already registered on the website, they must click on the ‘Registered User’ option.

  • Step-3: Candidates will have to log in using their personal credentials.
  • Step-4: Press the Submit button.
  • Step-5: Candidates will then be able to access the application form and fill it up for PSTET 2019.

Once candidates have filled in their details in the application form and submitted it, they will have to make a payment in the form of the application fee. This needs to be done in the online mode only. The category-wise application fees are as follows –

  • General and OBC: Rs 600/-
  • SC and ST: Rs 300/-
  • Ex-servicemen: No fee

There are two papers under PSTET – Paper I and Paper II. Thus, candidates applying for both the papers have to pay the requisite application fee two times.

Paper I for PSTET will be conducted for those who wish to teach in classes 1-5. For this paper, candidates will have to answer questions from the following areas –

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy
  2. Language I
  3. Language II
  4. Mathematics
  5. Environmental Studies

Paper II will be conducted for those who wish to teach student between classes 6-8. Students will have to prepare for similar subjects except in the fourth section of this paper, candidates can either opt for maths and science, if they want to teach the same or for social sciences.

In order to qualify PSTET 2019, candidates will have to score at least 60% marks.
