National Institute of Technology, Mizoram

NIT Mizoram established in 2010 is an institute situated in the
scenic beauty of Mizoram.

The Institute is currently functioning in a temporary campus in
the city of Aizawl. It comprises of an Administrative Block and 3 Academic
Blocks at Chaltlang, 3 boys hostel blocks at Tanhril and 1 girls hostel block
at Zemabawk.
The classes are currently operating from Dawrkawn, locality of Aizawl.

The permanent campus is to be located at Lengpui, Aizawl district.
The Govt. of Mizoram has already given 164 acres of land to the Institute at
this location. Another 86 acre of land will be given to the institute making it
a total of 250 acre. The institute’s foundation stone was laid by Kapil
Sibal, Minister of Human Resource Development on 13 October 2012. There are
buses arranged to ferry students back and forth from the hostels and college. The
institute has leased out 2 emergency vans to provide proper health care in case
of medical emergencies.

The Bachelors programme
B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication
Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering were started in the
year 2010 11. The classes of NIT Mizoram were started from 2010 in Visvesvaraya
National Institute of Technology, Nagpur and shifted to Aizawl only in 2011.

Life beyond the classroom

NIT
Mizoram believes in holistic learning and hence many clubs exist on campus.

The
Photography Club is called DRISHTI.

Shaurya is the sports
festival and the Quiz Festival is called Manthan.

Placement History

2014 saw the first batch of graduates attending placements.
It has started well for the students and the institute has taken a great step
forward.
