Prathyusha Purushothamam (26), a second year MSc student at IIT Madras who was reported missing on January 18, 2016 has been located in Dehradun.

After investigating Prathyusha’s mobile phone details the Kotturpuram Police station, Chennai, tracked her down in Dehradun. A police official of the Kotturpuram police station was then deployed to Dehradun, who found her at the foothills of Himalaya in Dehradun on January 28.

Prathyusha had left a five page note before leaving from the Sabarmati hostel at IIT Madras on January 17.

The Kotturpuram Police Officials in their preliminary investigation note construed that Prathyusha seems to have a spiritual longing and wants to know the higher facts of God. She wants to visit the Himalayas in search of spirituality and attain sainthood.

Prathyusha spoke to her parents on January 16, after which she switched off her mobile phone.

“We were tracking her ATM transactions, and call details. When she switched on her mobile phone, we traced it to Dehradun. We brought her back to Chennai on January 29”, says the Investigating Officer of the Kotturpuram police station.

Prathyusha is now with her parents at her hometown in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh
