MHT-CET 2016 CAP registrations ended on June 16 with many students giving the application process a thumbs up. Earlier this month, engineering aspirants in Maharashtra were wary of the new Centralised Admission Procedure (CAP) for admission to state colleges. Students who had heard about glitches during last year’s JoSAA allocation process were expecting some kind of issues with CAP as well.

The registration for CAP started on June 2, 2016. Since then, coaching institutes in Maharashtra have conducted instructional sessions for their students to help them with the application process. After registration, aspirants have hailed the process as neat and systematic.

Aditya Harnani, an aspirant from Mumbai, says, “The were no technical issues with the official website while filling up the form. DTE had released instruction manuals about how to register for CAP and input our details into the system. There were also PDFs about the documents required and eligibility criteria for different categories.” As the number of students taking MHT-CET is only one tenth of those taking JEE, the amount of traffic on the registration site is also considerably less.IITians PACE, Mumbai, says, “We had conducted an instructional session for our students on June 6, and advised them to fill the registration form at our Mumbai centres under our supervision.”

The first provisional merit list of CAP will be released on June 22, 2016, following which candidates will have to report at their allotted college with their prescribed documents.
