Students allocated a seat by the
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) have to follow certain rules and carry
some important documents. The two most important things to keep in mind are:
pay the seat acceptance fee through SBI Net Banking, or e-Challan, and visit a
Reporting Centre (RC) with the required documents.

The seat acceptance fee for
General category students is Rs 45,000, and for other category students is Rs
20,000.

Candidates have to report at any
of the designated Reporting Centres to acknowledge the allocated seat. If they
fail to do so, JoSAA will not consider them in subsequent seat allotment
rounds.

While downloading the seat
allotment letter, candidates can book an appointment, mentioning their date of
visit and time, at their choice of RC. If they don’t have an appointment, they
might have to wait for an uncertain duration of time, for their chance to come.
RCs will give preference to candidates who have an appointment, but this
doesn’t mean your seat will be allocated to someone else, it just means that
you might have to for more time than others. Candidates can book only one
appointment throughout the seat allocation process. If a candidate wants to
modify the booked appointment, he/she should do it up to two hours prior to the
slot booked, and booking is allowed up to two hours prior to the slot of the
desired hour. If a candidate arrives more than 20 minutes later than
the scheduled appointment, then he/she will be considered on par with those
without an appointment. Each RC will have a separate counter for students who
do not have an appointment.

Students should
carry the required original documents to RC for verification.
