The JIPMER PG entrance exam (JIPMER January 2019 session) will be conducted for admission to 100 seats available in the listed disciplines of MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Masters of Surgery). MD/MS course is 3 years long. The exam date declared by JIPMER is 2nd December and the form for the same has been made available on 24th September 2018.

JIPMER is an Institution of National Importance (an autonomous body) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Exam Eligibility 2019 (Tentative)

I] Nationality

  • Indian Citizens
    Candidates must be a citizen of India.
  • Overseas Citizens of India:
    Candidates should be registered under Section 7A of the Citizenship Act.
    OCI candidates must submit the OCI card during application form filling and the same document will also be required at the time of counselling.
  • Foreign Nationals: (Out of the 100 seats available for January session, five seats are reserved for foreign nationals)
    As per the current regulations, foreign nationals including National Residents of India (NRI) are eligible to appear for JIPMER PG entrance exam for January session.
    The MBBS degree should be registered under the Medical Council of the respective country where the course was pursued before applying for JIPMER PG 2019.
    Such candidates will be required to seek permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI).
    After the MCI grants permission, foreign nationals will be asked to process their applications via the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
  • Indian Candidates sponsored by Government:
    The central/state government can sponsor candidates against the five seats available for such candidates.
    These candidates are asked to upload the scanned copy of sponsorship certificate while filling the JIPMER PG application form 2019.

II] Academic Qualification

Minimum Qualifying Marks

  • Candidates belonging to unreserved and OBC category must secure at least 55% (in aggregate) in the professional examinations of their MBBS course.
  • The candidates belonging to SC/ST categories must score at least an aggregate of 50% marks.
  • PwD candidates are required to score the minimum aggregate marks prescribed for the above categories depending upon the candidate’s particular category.

III] Work Experience

Candidates seeking to apply for JIPMER PG 2019 for January session must complete 12 months compulsory rotating internship. It should be ensured by the candidates that the internship is completed by December 31, 2018.
