Thomso, synonymous with splendor and fervor, is the yearly cultural fest of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, the Olympus to India. Keeping its spirit high by being one of the greatest and the grandest youth festivals of India, Thomso is a huge banner that encompasses the rich history, evolving culture and the intricate heritage of IIT Roorkee. The 38th edition of Thomso will keep up with the legacy and promises you to make 18th-20th Oct. 2019 worth waiting for.
The previous editions of the fest have witnessed the joyous presence of well known celebrities and various youth icons like Farhan Akhtar, Sonu Nigam, Amit Trivedi, Sunidhi Chauhan, Nucleya, Nikhil D Souza, The Local Train, Mohit Chauhan, Astitva, Indian Ocean, Shaan and international artists like DJ Marnik, DJ Mariana Bo, DJ Wolfpack among many others, drawing huge crowd at the pronites.
Since its inception in 1982, the festival has brought a lot of glory to the college and drawn huge crowds to experience the culture at R-land. It is held over a span of three days and four nights in the month of October. The 2018 edition consisted of over 150+ events and hosted 100k+ students from 800+ colleges across India.
Such an extensive range of events requires sweeping management skills and organizing techniques for the best experience to the 100k+ footfalls that jump and triumph during these 3 nights. Team Thomso, the main architect behind this all popular fest starts it’s work several months before this to make sure every single second of the gala remains cherished. Such is the stature that the Govt. of Uttarakhand had named it as the “Youth Festival of Uttarakhand” in 2005.
The multitude of events that take place here cater to every category of talents like Fashion, Dancing, Singing, Music, Arts, Adventure, Gaming, Carnival, Cinematic, Quizzing and many more. Also, SIlent DJ and Nightlife Cafe are our late-night attractions. So, for the 3 days, it’s all about not to remain in the bed but to explore the unending variety of entertainment and talents that Thomso offers making these some of the unforgettable times of your life.
The lush 365-acre campus has already made it’s place to some of the most beautiful campuses in India. Imagine the decorated look of this campus during Thomso, adding an impressive dimension to the fiesta. The decoration team works hard to make this possible leaving n stone unturned in the process.
The security team, comprising of trained volunteers looks after the overall well conduct of the fest making sure no untoward event happens. On a whole, Thomso manifests that extraordinaire that can’t be replaced event by the most eloquent words, but only if one experiences it with their own eyes.
