Institute of Information Technology Design & Manufacturing Kancheepuram
(IIITD&M Kancheepuram) is a Centre
of Excellence for technical education and research established in 2007. It is the first IIIT to receive the status of Institute
of National Importance.

The institute was operating from its temporary campus within the IIT
Madras but has moved to its permanent campus at Kelambakkam-Vandalur road near
Chennai in 2011.  The institute is
located on a 51 acre campus on the outskirts of Chennai. It is a fully
residential campus. The campus houses the academic block, the administrative
block, lecture hall complex and laboratory block. There are two boys’ hostels
and one combined hostel for both boys and girls in the campus. Sports
facilities include a football ground, a cricket ground, a volleyball court and
a basketball court. Table tennis and badminton facilities are also available. A
swimming pool and a lawn tennis court are under constuction. All the rooms are
provided with LAN and common areas with Wi-Fi. There is a Medical Aid Centre
(24 x 7) inside the campus to provide health care.
