CMAT 2019 will be conducted as a computer-based test for admission to MBA or PGDM programs into some of the best colleges in India. It will be conducted on January 28, 2019. This year CMAT will be conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) which is a newly created testing agency for higher education. Until last year, CMAT was conducted by AICTE. The registration process ended on December 07, 2018.

As NTA has replaced AICTE for conducting CMAT it has been renamed as NTA-CMAT instead of AICTE-CMAT. The entire exam process for CMAT will be conducted by NTA by using highly secured IT software and encryption to ensure delivery of tests just in time. NTA has confirmed that there will be no changes applied in CMAT 2019 exam.

Details of CMAT Exam Pattern 2019:

It is an online mode test. The questions will be only in the English Language. The questions will be Multiple Choice Type Objective Type Questions (MCQs). Each question will have 4 choices out of which the candidates should choose the right answer. There will be 4 sections with 100 questions in total. Each section will have 25 questions. Following is the section wise representation of CMAT 2019 exam pattern:

Each question comprises of 4 marks summing up to a total of 400 marks i.e. 100 marks for each section and 1 mark will be reduced as a negative mark for each wrong attempts.  Each section will have equal weight-age of marks.

  • Language Comprehension:

The questions in this section will be from para-jumbles, fill in the blanks, idioms, identification of correct sentence, synonyms and antonyms etc. the most important part in this section is the Reading Comprehension which will be passages with 500-600 words. The difficulty level for this section will be moderate and also there are no rules fixed for framing questions in this section. The candidates can read newspapers, books etc in order to improve their verbal ability skills.

  • Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation:

The questions in this section will be usually from topics like time and work, simple equations, geometry, time and distance, boats and streams, profit and loss etc. the questions will be usually single and it will not be on set basis. The candidates must concentrate on their speed, efficiency and their accuracy. In order to answer the questions from this section, the calculation will be an important factor.

  • Logical Reasoning:

The questions for this section will be based on seating arrangement, linear, sequencing, etc. the questions will also cover the topics like cause and effect, assumptions and conclusions, statements and conclusions, etc. speed and accuracy is a must for the candidates in order to excel in this section.

  • General Awareness:

The main factor to be noted by the candidates to clear this section is to be updated with current affairs especially in the economics and business sectors.  The candidates must have a basic knowledge of science, history, inventions, politics, books and authors etc in order to clear this section. The questions from this section will be divided into business & economics, conventional and current affairs. The candidates must update themselves using GK questions available from the mock test, quiz etc.

Before starting to prepare to for the CMAT exam, the candidates must be aware of the exam pattern, marking scheme and syllabus of the respective year. NTA will provide Mock Tests in their official website for the convenience of the candidates. This will be helpful for the candidates to prepare for their CMAT 2019 exam.
