The GK section of the CDS exam shows consistency in pattern which is indicated through the graph below.

Arranging the areas in descending order (highest to lowest), the priority ranking of subject areas for GK are –

  • General Science and Science & Technology
  • Geography
  • Polity, Governance, and Institutions
  • Current Affairs
  • History
  • Economics

English

The English section of the CDS exam shows consistency in pattern which is indicated through the graph below.

Over the past years, the following trends are clearly visible –

  • Vocabulary based questions on Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion are gaining more space
  • There has been a reduction in Grammar based questions such as Errors, Omissions etc.

Mathematics – 

The Maths section of the CDS exam shows slight variations in pattern which is indicated through the graph below.

Over the past years, the following trends are clearly visible –

  • Algebra based questions which include Sets, Functions, Relations, Quadratic Equations have seen a sharp decline over time.
  • Trigonometry based questions have also witnessed a steady decline.
