The pen and paper based, offline mode Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main will be conducted on April 3, 2016. The question paper has a total of 90 questions, where each correct answer is of four marks and for every wrong answer a student loses one-fourth marks, which means one mark for every wrong answer. Understanding the marking scheme for JEE Main is not tricky. But to understand how aspirants should attempt it successfully, PaGaLGuY spoke to an expert from Bansal Classes.

Ashish Gupta, Managing Director, Bansal Classes- Jaipur

“Aspirants should focus on accuracy than speed. The minimum marks
requirement to qualify for JEE Advanced in 2015 was 113. Which means by
attempting 30 correct questions, students could have qualified for Advanced.

However, it will be impossible to sit for Advanced just by scoring 113
marks in Main, they need to score a rank under two lakh. Here, is a tip that
will help students to score better in Mains, they should be thorough in their
revision. They should have their Physics, Chemistry and Maths formulas on their
tips. The level of question paper for Main is based on class 11 and 12 syllabus
of CBSE, which means if they were well-prepared for their board exams, they can
crack JEE Main. Students should note that their class 12 marks are given 40%
weightage in JEE.

Aspirants should be accurate in solving questions, there should be no
scope of confusion. Question paper for Main is comparatively easier than
Advanced, the number of questions are more but the time is less. But students
should not hurry, in a hope to attempt all questions, because in attempting
all, they might answer some questions wrong. This mistake can cost them
one-fourth of the marks.

To achieve a good rank in Main, aspirants should focus on revision and
hopefully, their class 12 boards are going good.

Aspirants should not aim to attempt the whole paper, rather they should
focus on whatever they attempt, is correct.”

PaGaLGuY wishes all aspirants good
luck for JEE Mains 2016.
