UPSC NDA and NA (2) 2019

For Indian citizens, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts civil services exam for admissions into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Naval Academy (NA). The UPSC is also responsible for recruitment for various positions such as IAS, IPS, IFS, etc. Candidates preparing for these exams require a highly dedicated preparation to be able to crack them.

As per official information, there are 415 vacancies in the Indian Army, Airforce and Navy for which candidates are trained in the National Defence Academy and the Naval Academy. To fill up these posts, UPSC will be conducting the NDA & NA 2 Examination on the 1th of November 2019.

Candidates appearing for this written examination will have to prepare for two broad sections – Mathematics and the General Ability Test. For the Mathematics section, a candidate will face a total of 120 questions for 300 marks where each question will carry 2.5 marks.

Since the exam is not far away, candidates should be done with most of the preparations by now and should start appearing for mock tests. It is through mock tests that the candidate will be able to understand the question paper pattern, answering strategies, marking schemes, etc.

The Mathematics mock test paper should be similar to the actual paper. It will contain questions from various portions. The portions to prepare for the Mathematics test paper are –

  1. Algebra
  2. Matrices and Determinants
  3. Trigonometry
  4. Analytical geometry of two and three dimensions
  5. Differential calculus
  6. Integrated calculus and differential equations
  7. Vector algebra
  8. Statistics and probability

Candidates should keep in mind that the portions stated above are broad topics and candidates will have to prepare each of these portions in great detail.

Further, it should also be noted that for the checking of the paper, there will be negative marking of 0.33 marks per wrong answer. Thus, they must be thoroughly prepared with every portion to avoid negative marking. This will be possible only through regular practice.

Here are some points that candidates must take note of while giving mock tests and preparing for the UPSC examination –

  • Observe the questions and the pattern in which they have been laid out.
  • Make a note of the marking scheme.
  • Candidates must time themselves while answering the questions so that they can finish the paper on time and without mistakes.
  • Maths is a subject that requires regular practice so that candidates have an idea about all the types of sums.

Any further details about the exam will be available on the official website of Union Public Service Commission.
