Admissions for the year 2024 are now available at Vels University for its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various disciplines including agriculture, law, management, pharmacy, etc. Prospective candidates can submit their applications online through the official website at vistas.ac.in.

Each UG course comes with a set of eligibility criteria that must be met. A qualified candidate will be invited for a personal interview, facilitated by a designated Committee of the University. Admission to the M.E. and M.Tech programs at VELS University follows a process similar to other professional course admissions. Admission to PG programs requires candidates to meet the approved eligibility and attain a minimum score in their qualifying examination. Selection is based on merit, and provisionally selected candidates are then called for an interview.
VELS University also offers admission to students in Diploma courses across 11 specialisations. The eligibility for the course is a pass in the 10th class. Admission to the Diploma program is based on merit in the qualifying exam.

VELS University also offers admission to M.Phil & Ph.D. programs. For M.Phil admission, candidates must clear a common entrance test followed by an interview related to their research interest or area. The selection is based on the combined score from both the entrance and interview.
 
For Ph.D. admission, candidates need to fulfill eligibility criteria, clear the common entrance test, and undergo a viva-voce conducted by the university. Selection is based on their performance in these assessments. Upon admission, selected candidates are required to pay the research and admission fee.

Teacher candidates working in affiliated Colleges/Departments of the University/Recognised Research Institutions/in Polytechnic approved by the Department of Technical Education/in approved Higher Secondary Schools as well as High Schools under the State Board or Central Board/Education Instructors of the Indian Armed Force who possess the qualifications as prescribed above shall be eligible to register for M.Phil. Entrance Test followed by Interview
Ph.D. Full-time research scholars – Candidates with a minimum of 50% of marks in the qualifying examination. Research fellows of CSIR /ICAR/BARC/ Researchers / Scientists / Junior Research Fellows, Senior Research Fellows/ Research Assistants/Technical Assistants working in research projects funded by external agencies like DST/UGC and similar national and state-level organisations. Candidates with Marine and Marine – related Post-graduate degrees/ PG Diploma holders in related fields from IITs, NITs, and IIMs. Candidates with UG degrees in fields like Nautical Science, BE/ B.Tech. with a minimum certificate of competency as Chief Officer MOT Class 2 Engineer or equivalent with a PG degree from any recognised university.

Application Process:

  • Application forms can be obtained from the University office.
  • Application forms can also be received through the post by sending a Demand Draft drawn in favor of ‘The Registrar, Vels University’ payable at Chennai.
  • The filled-in application form, along with all the enclosures mentioned in the form, must be submitted to the university. This can be done either in person or by post.

Selection Process

  • Provisionally selected candidates, either through the entrance test or based on qualifying exam marks, will be called for a personal interview by the university.
  • Non-appearance for the interview will result in automatic cancellation of admission.
  • Admission is merit-based and involves a personal interview.
  • After admission, candidates and parents need to follow specific procedures, including signing declarations, fee payment, and submission of necessary documents to the Head of Department.
  • Original documents submitted during admission will be returned only at the time of graduation.
  • Fees paid are non-refundable, and discontinuation after admission obliges the student to pay the entire course fee.
  • Candidates with a qualifying examination other than the HSE conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu must obtain an Eligibility certificate from Vels University by remitting the prearranged fee with the application form.

  • If applying online, complete all necessary details, attach documents, and pay fees using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking.
  • Alternatively, download the application form, fill it in, and send it along with a Demand Draft (DD) for INR 1000/- or INR 500/- (depending on the course) favoring ‘Registrar, Vels University.’
  • Send the duly filled-in application form, registration fee, and required enclosures mentioned in the application form via Registered Post to the University.
  • International students must include additional documents as specified for their application.
