NPTI Faridabad Campus Facilities

The NPTI Faridabad campus are well equipped with Hi-Tech infrastructural facilities for conducting different courses on technical as well as management subjects covering the needs of Thermal, Hydro, Transmission & Distribution Systems, and Energy related fields of the Indian Power and allied Energy sectors. NPTI has 500 MW Thermal Plant Control Room at Faridabad Institute and 210 MW Thermal Plant Control Room at Nagpur Institute for imparting specialised skills to operation personnel across the country. Also a 430 MW (2×143 MW Gas Turbine and 1 x 144 MW Steam Turbines), Full Scope Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Replica Simulator has been commissioned at NPTI Corporate Office, Faridabad. A High fidelity Load Dispatch Operation Simulator for the National Grid has been installed at PSTI, Bengaluru. 250 MW Power Plant Control Room Simulator has also been commissioned at its Nangal Institute.

Library At NPTI Faridabad campus

The Institutes have modern libraries having large collection of books and video cassettes on Power Station Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Control & Instrumentation, Electronics, Computers, Management, and Information Technology etc. The Institutes subscribe to a variety of Indian and foreign periodicals and journals for keeping in tune with the latest developments in Engineering & Technology.

Computer Labs At NPTI Faridabad campus

Computer labs having access to the Internet are available at all the Institutes. Students are encouraged to use these facilities extensively during and after the class-room sessions to enhance and update their Computer skills for continual up gradation of power sector related information. Besides, all the officers have been provided with Computers together with Internet facility and connected in LAN for sharing of Data and file systems to gradually progress towards a Hi-Tech IT driven paperless office.

Laboratories and Workshops At NPTI Faridabad campus

The Institutes have built well equipped laboratories and workshops with wide ranging facilities for imparting training to Technicians, Operators and Engineers in various aspects of Power Stations. Some of the areas where expertise has been built are:

• Control and Instrumentation Lab, with facilities for testing, calibration and repairs of different types of process control instruments.
• Maintenance Workshops for Valves, Bearings & Shaft Alignment, Pumps, Motors etc.
• Electrical Labs, with facilities for testing of relays, electrical equipments, insulating oils etc. along with repairs as per requirement.

Training Simulators & Other Training Aids

NPTI has equipped itself with a 500 MW & 430 MW CCGT Training Simulator at Corporate Office, Faridabad and a high-quality, high-fidelity, real-time, full-scope DDC/VPC/CRT-Keyboard based 210 MW Training Simulators (2 No.) at its Regional Institutes at New Delhi Nagpur.

Audio Visual Aids

All the Institutes are well equipped with Audio Visual aids which are required for efficient running of training programs. Latest computer compatible projection systems have been added in the existing slide projectors, overhead projectors, video cassette recorders, recording decks, personal computers, slide synchronised packages for various lessons in operation and maintenance of power stations. All the institutes are equipped with Video Conferencing Facility.

Models

All the Institutes have good number of working and non-working models relating to various main systems and equipments of Thermal, Hydro and Power System for demonstrations in diversified areas of training.

Sports facilities At NPTI Faridabad campus

All NPTI institutes boast well-equipped hostels for trainees and students, along with separate accommodations for female residents, guest houses, gymnasiums, recreation centers, playgrounds, and other amenities. Furthermore, each institute features auditoriums and conference halls suitable for hosting conferences, seminars, and workshops. Additionally, NPTI units provide staff quarters for their employees.

Each institute is equipped with video conferencing facilities to facilitate communication among different officers within the organsation.

Hostels At NPTI Faridabad campus

At the NPTI Complex in Faridabad, there are well-appointed accommodations available in the Executive Hostel and Trainee Hostel, offering lodging and boarding for approximately 550 trainees. Additionally, a separate hostel is provided for female trainees, with a capacity to accommodate 25 residents.

Corporate Film

A 22-minute corporate film highlighting the education and training offered by various institutes, along with other achievements of NPTI, has been produced. This film also features NPTI’s diverse clientele, including both Indian and international organisations, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and other stakeholders.

Models

Two new models showcasing ‘Hot Line Maintenance’ and a ‘500 MW Training Simulator’ were commissioned and prominently displayed at the India International Trade Fair in 2011. These exhibits garnered significant appreciation from all visitors in attendance.

Sports facilities

Facilities for both indoor and outdoor sports and games, including basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, and caroms, have been established, with students and trainees encouraged to make use of them. Additionally, a comprehensive gym has been established for trainees’ use. Yoga sessions are regularly conducted to promote physical and mental well-being among students, aiding in stress reduction.

Centre for Advanced Management and Power Studies (CAMPS)

NPTI has inaugurated the Centre for Advanced Management and Power Studies (CAMPS) at its Corporate Office in Faridabad, dedicated to serving the senior ranks of the Power Sector. Within CAMPS, a two-year MBA program in Power Management is currently underway. Additionally, CAMPS provides a range of specialised programs, seminars, and workshops covering cutting-edge technologies, managerial strategies, regulatory matters, and other pertinent topics tailored for senior professionals in the Power and related Energy Sectors.

Centre for Excellence in GIS & Remote Sensing

A Center of Excellence specialising in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has been established within the NPTI Complex in Faridabad through a technical partnership with M/s. CES Technologies Private Limited, a firm specialising in IT consultancy and GIS-enabled services. This center serves as a focal point for disseminating geospatial knowledge to the wider community through education, training, research, and consulting services. It addresses the growing demand for GIS by focusing on the development of essential technologies and tailored solutions. Moreover, the center fosters collaboration between industry and academia to undertake projects aligned with industry needs. In its initial phase, NPTI introduced a One-year Post Graduate Diploma Program in GIS & RS in 2007-08, aimed at providing comprehensive knowledge of GIS & RS concepts to engineering and geoscience graduates aspiring to pursue careers in GIS and related fields.
