For admission to the B.Tech course at NPTI, Durgapur, candidates have to sit for WBJEE / JEE Main. Admission to the Post Diploma course is on merit basis whereas admission to the PG Diploma course will be done on the basis of Merit List based on marks obtained by the candidates in the Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by counseling at NPTI Faridabad.

NPTI, Durgapur Admission 2018
- National Power Training Institute,(NPTI) Durgapur offers a four B. Tech courses in Power Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) which is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBTU)
- Admission to the B.Tech course is made through WBJEE / JEE Main. However, candidates need to pass 10+2 level examination with PCM combination.

NPTI, Durgapur PDC and PGDC Admission:
- At PG Level NPTI Durgapur offers two job oriented courses: Post Diploma Course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering and PG Diploma Course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering. Both Post Diploma Course (PDC) and Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) are one year full-time programs. The intake capacity for the PDC program is 72 seats.
- Admission to the PGDC program is open for B.Tech /B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation or similar specialization.
- Admission to the Post Diploma course is on merit basis whereas admission to the PG Diploma course will be made by Merit List based on marks obtained by the candidates in the Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by counselling at NPTI Faridabad.
