NIFT Bhubaneswar – National Institute of Fashion Technology Overview

NIFT Bhubaneswar was started to offer knowledge in the field of fashion in the year 2010. Earlier, the campus was situated in Jatni located in the Bhubaneswar’s outskirts. It was then close to KIIT University. Bhubaneswar NIFT started functioning in 2012 by Shri Naveen Patnaik, the then Chief Minister of Textiles in Odisha.

National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhubaneswar offers many fashion courses on different academic levels such as undergraduate and postgraduate. These programs include subjects like Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Lifestyle Accessory, Textile Design etc.

NIFT Bhubaneswar Courses offered and fee structure

NIFT Bhubaneswar offers many fashion courses on UG and PG levels. These courses include B. Des, B. F. Tech and M.F.M. The B. Des course is available in subjects like Fashion Design, Lifestyle Accessory Design, Apparel Production and Textile Design etc. B. Des course is available for four years. B. Des lateral entry course is of three years. NIFT courses also include a degree of Masters in Management course, which comes with a duration of two years.

One year certificate courses are also provided including the subjects like Fashion retail Management, Fashion and Clothing Technology, Fashion Apparel and Boutique Management etc. 

B. Des and B. F. Tech course fee is 8.52 lakh and B. Des (Lateral Entry) and B.F. Tech (Lateral Entry) course fee are 6.07 lakhs. NIFT fee structure for Masters of Fashion Management course is 3.88 lakh. Certificate course fee ranges from INR 75,000 to 1.20 lakhs.

NIFT Bhubaneswar Admission Process

All the applicants can get selected for entry into a particular course if they get certain marks in the qualifying exam. The certain marks are referred to as Bhubaneswar NIFT cutoff. Candidates seeking admission in this college must have NIFT eligibility.

The institute selects students through NIFT Entrance Exam in which two tests are conducted by the institute. These tests include CAT (Creative Ability Test) and GAT (General Ability Test).

Candidates seeking NIFT admission in B. Des and M. Des courses have to get a certain score in the CAT exam. MFM and M.F. Tech candidates have to get a certain score in GAT exam. GAT and CAT are followed by group discussion and personal interview round. The selection of the candidates depends on the combined score obtained in the qualifying exam and the personal interview round score.

NIFT Bhubaneswar announces the cut-off list after the qualifying exam results are out for the year. The cut-off list is the deciding factor in student’s admission in the college. Candidates have to cross the cut-off list in order to get admission in the particular course.

The cut-off list is prepared on weighing the factors like the number of candidates taking part in a particular course, their scores in the qualifying exam, the difficulty level of the exam and the number of seats available in the institute for a particular course. B. Des and BF Tech candidates have to cross the CAT cut-off mark while MFM and MF Tech candidates have to cross the GAT cut-off mark.
