The Faculty of Management Studies at BHU has a rich history of providing admissions to various management programs for over 52 years. IMS BHU, a constituent academic unit of BHU established in 1968, has been instrumental in offering a wide range of management programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently, FMS BHU Varanasi course admissions extends admissions to a diverse set of programs, including MBA, MBA-IB, MBA-AB, PGDBA, and a Ph.D. program in Management. Additionally, IMS BHU offers three career-oriented diploma and certificate programs in a part-time format, with durations spanning from 6 to 12 months.

FMS BHU Varanasi course admissions for the MBA and MBA-IB programs are primarily determined by CAT scores, with an overall CAT cutoff of 85 percentile being used to shortlist candidates for the subsequent GD/PI round. FMS BHU Varanasi Course Admissions 2024 for MBA and MBA-IB

BHU provides a 2-year duration for its full-time MBA and MBA (IB) programs.

FMS BHU Varanasi Admission Criteria for MBA and MBA-IB:

  • Candidates must have achieved a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in any of the following qualifications:
    • A Bachelor’s degree under the 10+2+3 pattern.
    • A degree in Agriculture, Technology, Medicine, Education, or Law.
    • A Postgraduate degree in any discipline.

FMS BHU Varanasi Admission Criteria for MBA and MBA-IB Selection:

The university initially considers the CAT score to shortlist students. Applicants with a valid score in the entrance exam are invited for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) sessions conducted at the BHU campus. During the GD and PI, candidates are required to pay INR 1000/- in the form of a Demand Draft (DD) favoring the Registrar, Banaras Hindu University, payable at SBI, BHU.

The final selection is based on the following factors:

FMS BHU Varanasi Course Admissions 2024 for MBA-AB

The Institute of Management Studies, BHU offers a full-time 2-year MBA program specialising in Agri-Business (AB). The program has a total of 46 seats for domestic candidates, with 15% of the seats reserved for international candidates.

FMS BHU Varanasi Admission Criteria for IMS BHU MBA-AB:

Candidates must have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in B.Sc. (Agriculture) and related disciplines, or B.Sc. Home Science/Life Sciences subjects such as Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology.

Alternatively, candidates with a Post Graduate degree in the mentioned disciplines and a minimum of 50% marks are also eligible.

Note: SC/ST candidates require only passing marks.

FMS BHU Varanasi Admission Criteria for MBA-AB Selection:

The university conducts a written test called PET (Postgraduate Entrance Test) to shortlist candidates. Shortlisted candidates then participate in Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The final selection is based on the overall merit, which includes:

  • PET score: 80%
  • GD and PI: 20%

FMS BHU Varanasi Course Admissions 2024 for PGDBA

The Institute of Management Studies, BHU offers a 1-year PGDBA (PG Diploma in Business Administration) course, specifically designed for working executives who possess a minimum of 3 years of work experience. The course has a total of 45 seats available.

Eligibility criteria for IMS BHU PGDBA:

Candidates must have completed their Graduation from a recognised Indian University or hold an equivalent degree from a Foreign University. In addition, they should have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in either of the following categories:

  • Supervisory level in a business organisation or running their own business
  • In-service BHU Teachers/Officers

FMS BHU Varanasi Admission Criteria for PGDBA Selection:

The institute considers the academic record and work experience of candidates to shortlist them for the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The final selection is based on:

  • Work Experience
  • Performance in GD and PI rounds

The GD/PI rounds carry a total of 50 marks (GD-30 marks; PI-20 marks), while the work experience and past academic record together carry the remaining 50 marks.

IMS BHU Diploma & Certificate Programmes Admission 2024

IMS BHU provides three part-time Career Oriented Diploma and Certificate programs with durations ranging from 6 to 12 months. These programs are as follows:

  • Diploma in Microfinance & Entrepreneurship (1-year duration)
  • Diploma in Leisure & Hospitality Management (1-year duration)
  • Certificate program in Health Care Management (6-month duration)

Eligibility:

Applicants must hold a Graduate degree from a recognised university to be eligible for the Diploma and Certificate programs.

Selection Criteria:

Admission to the part-time programs is based on the merit obtained in the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

FMS BHU Varanasi Course Admissions 2024 for PhD

FMU BHU offers a doctoral-level PhD course in the field of management. The course duration is 5 years. 

IMS BHU PhD Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility requirements for the program are as follows:

  1. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree with an aggregate of 60% marks or an equivalent grade in any of the following fields:

    • Business Management (MBM)
    • Business Administration (MBA)
    • International Business Administration (MIBA)
    • Management Studies/Management Science (MMS)
    • International Business (MIB)
    • MBA Agri-Business
  2. Alternatively, candidates who have completed a 2-year PGDM from any of the IIMs with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks (first-class) or its equivalent are also eligible.

  3. Candidates who are first-class graduates and professionally qualified as CA/CWA/CS from the respective statutory bodies can also apply.

Working executives have the option to apply as part-time Research Scholars.

FMS BHU Varanasi Admission Criteria for PhD Selection:

Admission is based on the Common Research Entrance Test (CRET) conducted by BHU. However, candidates with a valid score in UGC-NET or JRF are exempted from appearing for the CRET and can directly proceed to the interview stage.

Note: Working executives are considered as Part-Time Research Scholars.
