The registration for CCMT Special Round 2025 is now open. Candidates can register on the official website ccmt.admissions.nic.in until July 15, 2025, and the choice-filling window will remain open until July 17, 2025.

Established in 1931, the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is globally renowned for its research and training in statistics and related sciences. With its headquarters situated in Kolkata, ISI operates four additional centers in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Tezpur. Designated as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India in 1959, ISI offers a wide array of undergraduate, postgraduate, postgraduate diploma, and research courses.

ISI Kolkata offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, and related disciplines. The undergraduate programs include B.Stat (Hons) and B.Math (Hons), each of 3 years’ duration, while the postgraduate offerings include M.Stat, M.Math, M.Tech, MS, and diploma programs, generally of 2 years in duration.

Selection Process

B.Stat / B.Math

  • Admission is based on two written tests conducted by ISI:

    • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and

    • Descriptive questions covering 10+2 level Mathematics.

  • Candidates shortlisted from the tests are invited for an interview.

M.Stat / M.Math

  • Direct Admission for candidates with a B.Stat (Hons) or B.Math (Hons) degree from ISI.

  • Other candidates must appear for ISI’s entrance test comprising:

    • Part 1: MCQs in Statistics and Mathematics.

    • Part 2: Short-answer questions in the same subjects.

  • Questions are at the graduate level.

MS in Quantitative Economics

  • Selection is based on performance in:

    • A written test (MCQs in Economics and Mathematics at UG level).

    • Followed by an interview.

MS in Quality Management Science

  • Admission includes a written test (MCQs/descriptive questions in UG-level Mathematics) and an interview.

M.Tech (Computer Science)

  • Admission through:

    • Written test (Mathematics and logical reasoning at UG level).

    • Group A: Compulsory for all – UG level Mathematics and reasoning.

    • Group B: Divided into five sections (PG-level Math, Stats, Physics; UG-level CS, Engineering).

  • GATE-qualified candidates in relevant subjects are exempt from the written test and directly appear for the interview.

Master of Science in Library and Information Science

  • Selection based on written test and interview.

Sponsored Candidates

  • Candidates sponsored by government/public sector/autonomous bodies/industries are eligible.

  • Sponsorship must include full salary and leave for the entire duration.

  • Sponsored candidates are not eligible for stipends.

  • A tuition fee of ₹20,000 per year is charged from the sponsoring organisation.

  • The sponsorship status is valid only if the employer officially grants leave and salary for the full course duration.

Indian Statistical Institute Ph.D Admission 2025

ISI Kolkata offers Ph.D. programs through Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) schemes across various research areas. The duration of the Ph.D. program (JRF + SRF) is typically 6 years, with a possible extension of 1 year.

  • Admission is based on performance in the ISI Ph.D. Entrance Test, followed by a personal interview.

JRF Admissions 2025 – Specialisations & Eligibility

ISI also admits students into the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) program in the following areas:

Selection Process: Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements are selected based on merit, determined through a written test and interview. Academic performance may also be considered.

Note: Candidates who hold national-level fellowships such as those from CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DST, DBT, or NBHM must still appear for ISI’s entrance test or a separate test conducted by the concerned ISI selection committee for final registration.

ISI offers generous financial assistance to non-sponsored candidates across all programs. No tuition fees are charged for full-time students.

Indian Statistical Institute PG Diploma Admission 2025

In addition to the postgraduate courses, the institute also offers several postgraduate diploma courses. The postgraduate diploma courses available at ISI are:
