IIT Jammu – Indian Institute of Technology Admission Process

IIT Jammu, in partnership with IIM Jammu, presents a dual degree program combining BTech and MBA. The overall program spans a duration of 6 years, with the initial four years dedicated to the BTech program and the subsequent two years focused on the MBA program. This program has been thoughtfully structured to provide students with the flexibility to exit after completing the fourth year, in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the National Education Policy 2020 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Upon successful completion of the fourth year, students have the choice of either receiving a B.Tech degree or obtaining a certificate in management.

IIT Jammu Dual Degree Eligibility Criteria

The criteria for eligibility, including age limit, qualifying examinations, and the year of appearance in qualifying examinations, will be established by the JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) for the dual degree program.

Eligibility to continue into MBA Program

In order to progress into the MBA program without appearing for the CAT exam, a minimum CGPA of 7 is a prerequisite. Participants with a CGPA below 7 at the conclusion of the fourth year must follow the mandatory exit procedure after the fourth year. Nevertheless, these students have the option of taking the CAT exam to seek admission to IIMs.

IIT Jammu Dual Degree Admission Criteria

• Admission to the integrated dual degree program (Advanced) will be determined by JEE scores.
• Students who achieve a CGPA of 7 or higher during their B.Tech. can earn both the B.Tech. and MBA degrees without the need to take the CAT exam.

IIT Jammu, in partnership with AIIMS Jammu and IIM Jammu, provides an MBA program specialising in Hospital Administration & Health Care Management. The collaborative effort involves IIM Jammu offering management courses, AIIMS Jammu providing courses on Hospital Administration and Health Care, and IIT Jammu offering courses on Technology. Selection for the program is based on CAT examination, followed by shortlisting candidates for a Personal Interview (PI) and the compilation of a merit list considering CAT score, PI score, and Profile score. The total capacity for the program is 60 seats.

IIT Jammu MBA (HA & HM) Eligibility Criteria

• A valid CAT score
• A bachelor’s degree in any field with a 50% aggregate score

IIT Jammu MBA (HA & HM) Selection Criteria

The IIM Jammu admission procedure encompasses the following steps:

1. CAT Examination
2. Selection of candidates for the Personal Interview (PI) phase.
3. Compilation of the Merit List, taking into account CAT score, PI score, and Profile score.

Candidates taking the CAT exam must attain a minimum qualifying score as established by the institute. The following table displays the CAT cutoff for shortlisting candidates for the PI round:

The Admission Committee at IIM Jammu will determine the number of candidates to be invited for the Personal Interview (PI) phase based on specific criteria for each category. In cases where the actual count of shortlisted candidates falls short (exceeds) the required number for each category, adjustments will be made to the overall and section-wise minimum scores to achieve the desired number of candidates.

Following the completion of the PI round, the final merit list for admission is established, taking into account CAT score, PI score, and student profile. The respective weightage for each section is as follows:

• CAT score: 40%
• PI: 30%
• Profile: 30%

The allocation of marks in the Profile category is distributed among Academic Profile, Work Experience, and Diversity (Academic & Gender). Each section receives marks as follows:

• Maximum marks for Academic Profile: 9
• Maximum marks for Work Experience: 8
• Maximum marks for Diversity (Academic & Gender): 13 marks

Offer Acceptance Fee and Withdrawal

An applicant who receives an admission offer from IIM Jammu and confirms acceptance within the stipulated timeframe is required to remit an Offer Acceptance amount of INR 50,000/- along with the acceptance confirmation. In the event that a candidate subsequently opts to withdraw the offer before the Institute’s specified withdrawal date, the Offer Acceptance Amount will be refunded, with a deduction of INR 1,000 for processing fees. If a candidate seeks withdrawal after the Institute’s prescribed deadline, no refund will be issued.

Should a candidate decide to enroll in the program, the Offer Acceptance Amount will be adjusted against the Term I Fee. In the event of withdrawal from the program following registration, neither the Offer Acceptance Amount nor the Term Fee will be subject to a refund.
