Financial Aid by GITAM
At GITAM, we firmly believe that all students deserve a fair shot at quality education and to be rewarded for their continued excellence. For this reason, GITAM offers scholarships that students can utilise to further their education. By providing degree scholarships to deserving candidates, we strive to ensure that their sole focus remains on their education and their financial situation doesn’t get in the way of their success.
Student Scholarships Framework
At GITAM, we follow a Unified Student Scholarship Framework to ensure that the deserving candidates get the required financial assistance. The framework is approved under the following conditions:
- Admissions through scholarship will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Admissions through scholarships are limited to up to 25% of the approved programme intake. For Physiotherapy, up to 50% of the approved intake will be eligible for scholarships.
- Once the earmarked 25% of seats (50% in case of Physiotherapy) are filled in a programme through scholarships, despite qualifying for the scholarship the student will not be entitled to the scholarship.
- For the scholarships offered through various National and State Entrance Tests, the students are required to apply for GITAM Admission Test (GAT) and must attend the counseling for admission as per the schedule.
- If a student is eligible for a scholarship under more than one category through GAT, National, and State Entrance Tests, then he/she will be awarded the highest percent of the scholarship.
- The scholarship offered through GAT, National and State Entrance Tests is applicable for the First Year only. The same scholarship will be continued in the subsequent years of study subject to scoring a CGPA of 8.0 and above.
- The children of GITAM employees admitted in full-time programmes are further eligible to avail only 25% of Merit Scholarship through GAT, National and State Entrance Tests.
- The students admitted through GAT Scholarship Scheme are further eligible for Alumni returning to Higher Education, Alumni Children, Sibling Scholarship, and Retired Employee Children scholarship.
- The above scholarship framework is not applicable for the MBBS program.
How to Apply?
- Fill out the GITAM application
- Select Sports Quota in the Scholarship drop down box
- Fill out all your sports achievements with proof in the allotted provision
- The achievements should be within 3 years from the year of application
Note: The application will be considered only if the applicant has participated/won in their sport at an International, National, State or Zonal level
Scholarship Process
There will be a two-stage screening process for finalising the Sports Quota candidates.
Stage 1 – Application review :
All applications will be analysed and the candidates who rank the highest amongst the applicants and meet the criteria set will be called for Selection Trials & Interview.
Stage 2 – Selection Trials + Interview:
The candidates who have cleared the Application review process will participate in a Selection Trials process, which will be an assessment of their game/sport – which shall include:
- Sport specific Fitness.
- Fundamental knowledge and skills on the sport.
- Overall playing ability.
Grant of Scholarship
Scholarships for candidates will be granted at the discretion of the Directorate of Sports, GITAM. The scholarship will be granted on an annual basis. Sports performance, Academic and overall performance of the current year will be considered for continuation or withdrawal of scholarship for the 2nd year and subsequent years.
