DMS IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Admission Details 2023

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad offers a flagship 2-year full-time MBA program and an MBA in Business Analytics. Admission to both programs is based on CAT scores and academic records, followed by online personal interviews. This year, the WAT round has been excluded from ISM Dhanbad MBA admission. B.Tech candidates from IIT with a CGPA of 8.0 or above are exempted from CAT score requirements and are directly called for online interviews. The MBA program has a total of 62 seats, while the MBA in Business Analytics has 30 seats.

In addition to the MBA programs, ISM Dhanbad also offers an M.Tech program in Industrial Engineering & Management (IE&M) and a PhD program. Admission to these courses is based on GATE scores, followed by a counseling process. IIT graduates and sponsored candidates are exempted from the GATE score requirement.

ISM Dhanbad offers a 2-year MBA program and an MBA in Business Analytics. The General MBA program at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad offers specializations in Financial Management, Operations Management, Marketing Management, and Human Resource Management.

Eligibility for the MBA program at ISM Dhanbad requires a minimum of 60% marks in a Bachelor’s degree, with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects. For the MBA in Business Analytics, candidates must have a minimum of 60% aggregate score in B.Tech. A valid CAT score is also required.

Key notes:

Reserved category candidates receive a 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria.

ISM Dhanbad M.Tech Admission Criteria 2022

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad offers M.Tech courses specializing in Industrial Engineering and Management. Admission to the program is available through three modes: GATE candidates, IIT B.Tech graduates, and sponsored candidates.

Eligibility for GATE Category:

Candidates must hold a B.Tech/B.E/Masters (Science/Arts/Commerce) degree with a minimum of 6.0 CGPA or 60% marks.
A valid GATE score is required.

Eligibility for IIT Graduates:

Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 8.0 CGPA in their B.Tech degree.
IIT graduates are exempted from the GATE score requirement.

Eligibility for Sponsored Category:

Candidates must be employees of academic institutions/PSUs/Government R&D organizations/Government-recognized private R&D organizations/industry with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Candidates must be sponsored by their employers.
Candidates from private firms must upload their Salary Bank Account statement/EPF statement along with the application form.
An undertaking from the employer allowing the candidate to stay on campus during the program period is required.
Candidates must have a minimum of 60% in their M.Tech degree.
A valid GATE score is required.
Sponsored candidates with a minimum of 8.0 CGPA in their B.Tech from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) are exempted from the GATE score requirement.

Key Notes:

There is a 5% relaxation in the minimum eligibility marks for candidates belonging to the ST/SC/PWD category.

The selection criteria for M.Tech at ISM Dhanbad are as follows:

For GATE Candidates:

GATE COAP declares the GATE Cut off for the IE&M specialization at IIT Dhanbad.
A counseling process conducted by COAP is carried out for the allocation of IE&M seats at IIT Dhanbad.
Finally, IIT Dhanbad confirms the admission of candidates after the physical reporting and verification process.

For IIT Graduates:

Candidates are evaluated based on their CGPA marks in the qualifying examination and undergo a Departmental Review for shortlisting.

For Sponsored candidates:

Sponsored candidates are selected through a Departmental Review and Recommendation process. Candidates must meet the necessary criteria to be considered in the selection process.

Eligibility Criteria for ISM Dhanbad PhD:

For IEM Discipline:

Candidates must hold a Master’s or B.Tech degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.

For Management Discipline:

Candidates must hold an MBA/PG Diploma/Master’s degree in Economics, Commerce, Psychology, Industrial Engineering and Management, Industrial Management, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, CA, CS, ICWA, or any other relevant qualification.

General Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates with a postgraduate degree must have a minimum aggregate score of 60%.
Candidates with a B.Tech degree must have a minimum aggregate score of 70%.
Valid GATE/NET/CAT/GMAT/Appropriate National Level Examination Score is required.

Key Notes:

Qualifying exams should be completed in regular or full-time mode.
IIT Master’s or B.Tech graduates with a CGPA of 8.30 or higher are exempted from the test score requirement.

ISM Dhanbad Institute Assistance:

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad provides institute assistance to full-time Ph.D. students with GATE qualification. This assistance is offered for a maximum of five years, subject to annual performance evaluation. During the first 2 years of registration, students receive INR 31,000 per month, which is increased to INR 35,000 per month for the next 3 years.
