CAT Cutoff

Cutoff for eligibility for PI-WAT is overall percentile based but minimum percentile is applicable for sectional cutoff as well.

IIMs/MBA Colleges will release the minimum cutoff for PI/WAT/GD shortlisting sometime in January post the announcement of CAT Result. This minimum cutoff for shortlisting for interview will be released on official website of each IIM. The cutoff will vary from IIM to IIM.

The individual Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) fix their own cutoff percentile to shortlist candidates for the first phase of admission process which is the PI/WAT. The cutoff for IIMs specifically remains among the highest for MBA programmes, it is usually between 90-100 percentile depending on the IIM in question.

While the cutoff for admission varies from college to college the general process is that admissions to IIMs warrant higher percentiles. To elaborate, the highest rated B-schools will accept students usually scoring 90 percentile plus. Middle level B-schools would accept students with scores of 75-80 percentile and above.

However, final admission offer for IIMs is made on the composite score of candidate’s past academic performance (12th + UG marks), CAT 2018 score, WAT/PI score and soem other weighted factors.
