FRIENDS was one addictive series and what made it so special was the well defined characters.The characters managed to awe their viewers with their witty remarks and emotional outbreaks. Whilst Chandler was famous for his sarcasm, Monica was known for her obsession over cleanliness! When Joey portrayed a playboy image, Phoebe was showcased as someone who was always a little unconventional. And, how can we forget the never ending love and drama between Ross and Rachel!
It’s funny how we could all relate to them, and empathise with them sometimes to the extent where we let out a huge sigh and said – Oh my god! I am so her or I am just like him! I love the entire series, and most of all I love the characters who made this series such a huge success, but the character that I love the most is Monica!
To me Monika is the Alpha Woman, independent yet vulnerable, determined yet secretly unsure of little things. Ambitious, passionate, dependable, and what not! She would feel her emotions in extremes, her happiness, excitement, love for food or her man, everything for her always in the extremes!
To me, Monica is the unsung hero in F.R.I.E.N.D.S and amongst her friends in the series. Here’s why I love her:
1)A fridge always stuffed with food.
Can you beat that! Cooking all those Thanksgiving dinners and keeping the fridge full so your friends could barge in any time not just to chit chat but eat.
2)She was forgiving and generous!
She took Rachel in when she wasn’t even invited to her wedding.Plus, all the care and tenderness for her brother and friends could never be matched by another character in the series.
3)She was the glue that kept everyone together.
Even when she was down and beat up – she still managed to keep everyone and everything else together!
4)Everyone loves her Chicken Dance
I am sure y’all remember! When she puts up a big turkey head on top and shakes her body to get a laugh out of her fiancee.
5)She loved what she did for a living and she did it well!
I can’t recall a show where she wasn’t shown cooking or stirring something (if not, cleaning).
6)She was competitive to an extent that it was endearing.
Starting from the Poker to the Football to the Ping-Pong games, her competitive spirit was awesome.
7)She was the one who always got things done.
She may have been a little too obsessive but we cannot deny that she was the one who always threw the best parties!
Last but my favourite reason – She married my second favourite character from the show, and together they were sarcastic and adorable ever after!
