The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTU-H) will hold the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) on May 12, Post-Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGECET) on May 30 and Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET) on May 6, declared the Telangana State Council of Higher Education on Thursday.

Last year, EAMCET was held thrice due to paper leak. Notification of the EAMCET is expected to be released in February. Until then, the JNTU-H will begin the affiliation process of all engineering colleges.

The question paper of EAMCET will consist of a total of 160 multiple choice questions (MCQs). The exam will be conducted in two languages – Telugu and English. Students will be allowed to choose Urdu as their preferred language to appear for EAMCET in Hyderabad only. In EAMCET, 75% weightage will be given to the marks secured in the entrance test and 25% weightage to the marks secured in the intermediate exams with relevant groups such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology. There is no minimum qualifying marks prescribed for candidates belonging to SC/ST.

Subsequently, the PGECET for admissions into regular PG courses in engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy (ME / MTech/ MPharmacy / MArch), graduate level Pharm-D (Post Baccalaureate) for the academic year will be held on May 30. Notification for PGECET is expected to be released by mid-March. The first preference for PG seats is given to GATE/GPAT qualified candidates. Later, the vacant seats will be filled by candidates based on the rank/percentile score secured in the PGECET. A separate notification will be issued for registration of GATE/GPAT qualified candidates.

The ECET for lateral admission through common entrance test into second year regular BE/BTech courses in both university and private un-aided professional institutions (minority & non-minority) approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will be held on May 6. Notification for ECET is expected to be released by March.

Also, the Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) for admission into MBA and MCA courses of all the universities in Telangana and their affiliated colleges will be held on May 18. Notification for ICET is expected by February.
