Today at 8 P.M. in the club cricket biggest championship match, we will see the last of two legends in coloured clothing that were probably two of the best batsmen ever to represent the country. Both are in horrendous form( though we have seen glimpses of vintage SRT in semifinals) but they are not in the team due to their batting skills alone. One has lifted the post-warne RR ( and post fixing too) to the finals in style while the other was, is and will always be the source of inspiration for his team( remember world cup or more recently “this time for tendulkar” statement). For the current crop, these two will always be the best teachers and role models available on TV. what they teach cannot be written inside 500 words( pagalguy limit!) but i will try to compose it in prose form.
Sachin:
Chase your dreams and they can become true,
Though challenges will hit out from the blue,
I carried the hope of billions on my bat and shoulders,
But with committment and focus, i break all boulders
Dravid:
And sometimes you will face criticism for playing at own pace,
But remember slow and steady always win the race,
its the determination inside that will keep you going,
the others will fall but you must keep flowing
Sachin:
And at dark times you wanted to become like a shadow,
But you need to fight back like i recovered from tennis elbow,
May be you will slowly lose aura but dont give two hoots,
you are the best person to know when to hang up the boots,
Dravid:
and sometime you have to adjust like i become a wicketkeeper,
because team success is as important as the individual success seeker,
And tougher the challenege the more steel you need to become,
because the title of legend is deserve for the awesome..
To end the prose, i would say that we were just plain lucky to watch these two legends playing together, taking India to victories and showing their own batting magic. Humbleness comes naturally to both the players. One is definitely a Superman who was naturally genius like having an alien superpower, terrorising great bowlers and gaining all deserved attention and fan following; the other was the the hero India deserves and was definitely the one that it needed back then. He was hunted for his slow pace but he improvise.Behind Superman shadow, he act a silent guardian of team batting,a watchful protector on foreign pitches. A Dark Knight.
